Random Card of the Day |
Friday, September 18, 2015Set: 1999 Ty Beanie Babies II (Rate) Card: #156 Bronty the Brontosaurus “ I remember when this fad was THE thing...hard to believe that was 1999 already. I don't know if they still make them or even if Ty is still in business. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ What is the differance between a ton and a metric ton? Is it anything like the difference between a pound of feathers and a pound of nails? ” -SFC Temple
“ This dinosaur is cool. ” -dah15
“ Sigh...no comment. ” -Kaline6
“ I think my brain is going to melt! ” -koloth42
“ Non-Sport BABY! Beanie Babies *chuckle*. Back in that day (1999) Beanie Babies were THE Collectible. Oddly it was because of beanie babies that I first heard about Ebay in 1998. Some girls/women I knew from my community theatre work were really into them and mentioned Ebay. The first few auctions I bid on were for some Beanie baby bears. I recall trying for the Jerry Garcia tiedyed beanie teddy bear, and some other maybe a dog or cat. I don't remember exactly which ones. Didn't win them because I only went up to maybe $20 and was so newbie to Ebay I would only bid in individual increments not my "max" bid back then. ” -captkirk42
“ Hahaha, it's so qoot! ” -wax_house
“ Just when I thought I've seen it all... ” -C2Cigars
“ Are any of these still valuable? ” -carthage44

Wednesday, September 16, 2015Set: 2000 Fleer Tradition Update (Rate) “ Love retro sets. Except now there are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo many retro sets, and Topps doing that archives thing with 4 different years every year the concept is overdone like relics and on-sticker autos. ” -captkirk42
“ Looks like Fleer ripped-off Topps' 1954 design. Topps can't complain since they do the same and steal other companies designs (Goudey, Turkey Red, Allen & Ginter, Gypsy Queen, etc). ” -C2Cigars
“ These have a classic feel which has been hard to duplicate. ” -carthage44

Tuesday, September 15, 2015Set: 1995 Fleer Skeleton Warriors (Rate) “ Oddball Non-Sport. Based on the cartoon series that also spawned some action figures? ” -captkirk42
“ The days when literally ANY toy line could get a set of cards. I'm both surprised and not that this set exists. Playmates Toys went for the all-out blitz on this brand with comics, toys, cartoons, trading cards and video games. I wonder how much money they lost in that venture? ” -DaClyde
“ I hope they used recycled paper. I'd hate to think a tree died for this. ” -C2Cigars
“ Weird. ” -carthage44

Monday, September 14, 2015Set: 2014 SPx - 1997 SPx (Rate) “ Ugly. I'm not saying anything else. ” -captkirk42
“ I picked the wrong day to give up drinking. ” -NJdevils
“ more like Johnny Bench ” -lxnlxn
“ Despite not having a MLB or NFL license, Upper Deck has not a pretty good job with the college sets. ” -carthage44
“ Phft, what a joke. Why did they draft him? ” -CardDude14
“ I hope that he has turned his life around after rehab and becomes successful with the Browns. I generally try to pick up whatever Browns draft picks' college cards I come across but Manziel has so many. ” -armac
“ I've nothing nice to say about the card nor the player. ” -C2Cigars

Friday, September 11, 2015Set: 2005 Donruss Elite - Passing the Torch (Rate) “ Sorry, I can't think of anything nice to say about this card. ” -C2Cigars
“ Another set where the numbering in the database doesn't match the card. Also, this must be a foil card ... maybe in person it looks better. ” -vrooomed
“ Nice card. It is a nice card for an on-card auto. "Passing the Torch" but only showing one player? ” -captkirk42
“ I bet this looks a lot better in person. I see some holofoil effects that don't really show in scans well. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ Who is he passing the torch too? ” -carthage44
“ Tom Terrific is first and foremost a Met, not a Red. ” -jlaz10

Thursday, September 10, 2015Set: 1997 Press Pass VIP (Rate) “ 1997 was a great year in NASCAR cards. This design isn't the best though. Even by then Press Pass had stopped caring about actual stats on the back. Weird how the gold foil scanned great for the logo, but not the name. ” -Billy Kingsley
“ The "sport" subject aside, it's one hideously ugly design. I prefer a driver card that actually has a picture of the driver, not just his car. ” -C2Cigars
“ OK looking card. Never have liked the gold foil/imprinting/chrome style for names. For the familiar card company logo OK but for important things like player or team names NO NO NO. In this case his name is also hared to read because of it being against his black uniform. This is where having the name in the border or in a box is better than being gold or silver inlaid. ” -captkirk42
“ The guy's name is Butch. Must be a Nascar card. ” -carthage44
“ Not a big fan of the early VIP sets, but love the recent ones. The inserts are very cool looking, a fun challenge to complete the recent years sets! ” -Joshua825
