Random Card of the Day

Sunday, February 9, 2014

Year: 1992-93

Set: Topps (Rate)

Card: #299 Litterial Green

“ After losing the NBA license after 1981-82, this was the first Topps set after they got the license back. It also had the first parallel in NBA card history. It was also the first set where Topps listed league leaders in the stats on the back of the cards, something they did until they lost the license during 2009-10. Mr. Green was not a league leader, in fact, he was a rookie so had no league stats, it's hard to spot but there is a gold foil 92 Draft Pick over his left leg. I always liked the Magic pinstripes, they are wearing them as retro jerseys now. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Pinstripes! ” -jlaz10

“ Great back, easy to read. Decent front though I would like a team logo ” -NJDevils

“ no thought, no logo... just keep pumping em out, ppl will buy them ” -SFC Temple

“ Topps Exec: "Hey, I have an idea. Let's use the same exact design for all 4 sports!" Rest of committee: "What a great idea, boss! Wow, why didn't we ever think of that?" I can tell you why - it's boring. Boring as HECK. At least the BACK is a little different. ” -vrooomed

“ Sometimes i wonder where people come up with their kid's names... This Topps set was somewhat uninspiring to me back in the day.. ” -lyfestory

“ This was the card most likely to show up when you thought you finally had a pack with the Shaq Rookie. ” -SYTopps
