Year: 1995

Set: SkyBox Premium (Rate)

Card: #16 Barry Foster

“ Very interesting, not a lot of cards based on newspaper designs. I like it. I can still remember when I was getting into the NBA I learned which team name went to which city by looking at the results in my local newspaper. It was so early in my following if the sport I didn't have every team in my collection yet. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Is this a card or a newspaper article? ” -captkirk42

“ This is a pretty neat card. I like the uniqueness of it. ” -RoyalChief

“ Kinda like the newspaper look. ” -carthage44

“ Interesting idea for a card, I wish either a) the scan was bigger or b) my eyes better so I could read the "article." ” -rmpaq5

“ Rarely seen 'news headline' sports card. Crazy that this card is over 20 years old. Will newspapers even exist in another 20 years?? ” -dilemma19

“ According to this card he brought pro bowl power to Carolina. Was cut shortly thereafter. The sad short career of most NFL running backs. Never played another down after leaving the Steelers. Not my favorite design. Feel a little too high school journalism class to me. ” -Mitch

“ Cards like this seem cool at the time, because it's the first time seeing an expansion team on cards. But once they have cards with real game photos, I totally lose interest in these. ” -switzr1

“ The new expansion teams, Panthers and Jaguars, were treated with this ugly design. The rest of the set has a much better look. ” -C2Cigars

Some of the early expansion stuff was horrible, this was no exception. Even though I was collecting heavy at the time, and there was a lot of local buzz for the Panthers, I didn't allow myself to get caught up in it.
