Set: SP Authentic - Chirography (Rate)

Card: #IR Ivan Rodriguez

“ Cool one. Autograph card as RCOTD makes a day. Just makes me wonder, why that space for signature is so big. Space for a little poem perhaps? ” -Duke

“ Who says trading cards aren't educational? Chirography is a word I was unfamiliar with before seeing it on a card. The definition of the word is "handwriting", or "Penmanship" and was first recorded as being used in the year 1645. I looked it up. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Nice signature and great catcher. I'm just not moved by a card which minimizes the picture of the player. ” -Sportzcommish

“ PUDGE! Very cool Auto to have on RCofD. I'll admit before Ivan Rodriguez became a National I didn't follow him too closely if at all. But once a player comes to DC to play ball I'm on them like stink on a skunk. I'll try to remember to put this card on my mental wishlist. ” -captkirk42

“ Yes, finally a REAL Autographed card. ” -carthage44

“ Cool...from a first ballot HOF member (and despite the steroids controversy)! ” -bkklaos

“ Nice, an auto on the RCOTD. Pudge was always great. The card is cool enough, but the white on the bottom could have been reduced. ” -muskie027

“ Sweet an auto! Wish the bottom half wasn't washed out. ” -rmpaq5

Fantastic card that I'd LOVE to have! Even though Pudge never played for my favorite team, I liked him a lot. He is my all-time 2nd fav. catcher (after Yadier Molina). I even got to see him live in my very 1st in-person MLB game and he won the game with a 2-run HR in the 8th inning. He was playing for the Tigers then and the game was in Cleveland and I was rooting for the Indians. Even though the home team lost, I was happy to see Pudge show why he was so good. The Tigers got swept in the WS that year by my Cardinals, so the season ended well for me after all. I was so happy that Pudge made it into the HOF on the 1st ballot. He certainly earned that. As for the card, I really like the design. The extra white-space is for players with a larger signature, so I understand the need for UD to make the area cover half of the card. I really like this card/set design!

Why is Pudge signing his cards "Carl Yastrzemski"?     That was my first thought when I saw he auto.   Then I saw the pic
