I got the Hoblitzell!

I lost out on all three of the STL Cardinals I was bidding on, even after placing a 2nd bid on each of them. I don't see any Cardinals in the new listings though.

Thank you very much guys !!! No Cardinals this week unfortunately . I think this is the last of my pre-war stuff , there may be another card or 2 around here . 

I'm always looking for ANY vintage Cardinals cards! And if it's Lou Brock, it doesn't even have to be a Cardinals card. I'm fine with getting his Cubs cards too. My oldest STL Cardinals card currently is from 1962 and I'd like to get one older. It's unfortunate that I can't afford any of the Stan Musial cards. Because of the cost of his cards, my current white whale is ANY card of him from his playing days. I got my first white whale about 9 years ago, which was a 1979 Topps Ozzie Smith RC (still need the OPC RC though), and then I got an Ozzie AU, and I got a Musial AU before I even got the Ozzie RC. I just need a Musial RC and a Brock RC to round out the trio. But those are SO expensive! A Bob Gibson RC would be next on my list. I did have a project going several years ago to get every Lou Brock Topps card from 1970 to 1980. I completed about half of that (including a couple from the 60's), but gave up when it got really difficult to find any that I could trade to get.

Well, I am going to purging most of my pre 1970 cards over the next couple months on Ebay . We are moving and need some extra cash as we will have 2 sets of house bills until the house we are in now sells . As I go through stuff I am sure I might have some vintage Cardinals cards .  Several years back I completed a 1959 Topps set , the Gibson rookie was the last card I had to get . The book value is too low for that card , if I remember correctly I had to pay $50 for one in good condition . He was way to great a pitcher to have his rookie booking only $300 .
