Greetings. Due to life circiumstances such as the onset of Parkinson's Disease and the worries of my wife potentially having to dispose of my collection after I'm unable to do so, I am entertaining the idea of disposing of my entire collection of New York Mets baseball caards and memorabilia all at once, in a deal designed to be a bargain to the buyer.
The entirety of the collection can be viewed at my website, The New York Mets Hall of Records, and includes not only the cards, but also the jerseys, toys, statuettes, and other oddball items I have accumulated in the last thirty years or so. I have a lot of the cards in the collection entered on the TCDB, but not all of it yet, so I would direct you to my site for the full list. Just click on a player's name, and it will give you a complete list of everything I have for him on the bottom part of his page.
I would estimate the value of the collection, using the TCDB's protocol for pricing, at around $65,000, and that doesn't include the jerseys, bats and balls, figurines, books and magazines, stadium giveaways and other items I have gathered. In addition, I am willing to include the entire inventory of my old baseball card shop Rounding Third as an added incentive to the buyer. (The pages there are up to date.) For that matter, if you want to take ownership of the electronic files associated with The New York Mets Hall of Records website, I'll throw them in too.
Any serious offer will be entertained. Shipping will be completely at the cost of the buyer; I assume the best way to do it would be to rent a U-Haul and come and get it! Email me if you have the faintest interest; I will be happy to answer any questions you have and will provide scans or photos if you need to see something not already imaged.
Thanks for reading,

Robert, sorry to hear of your health concerns. Hearing of someone going through such trying times is a reminder to all of us that we are all finite. To have to end a life-long hobby in which you have obviously dedicated so much time is a difficult decision but most from what you wrote, for all the right reasons. Watching with difficulty my girlfriend's father go through the progression of Alzheimer's disease, my thoughts are with you and your family as you endure the continued development of your own illness.
I wish I could seriously make an offer but such a huge collection will take many more riches than most of us have. Have you thought of a reputable Auction House (Sotheby's) who will advertise your collection properly and attract the richest of sport memorabilia collectors? I think those who have been fortunate enough to come to own some of the more reknowned memorabilia have sold such items through auction and have been successful in getting what the true value is. Best thing is that the Auction House will do all the work in getting it sold.
Sincerely, Bruno

Thanks for the advice, Bruno. This is my first attempt at selling it; I had to start somewhere, and I have been so impressed with the knowledge and thoughtfulness of the members of the TCDB that I thought I may as well start here. I am honestly not looking at maximizing the cash I get from the deal, but getting something from the collection (as well as not spending so lavishly in the future on something I can't take with me) would make me and my wife rest easier at night, I think!
Best wishes, Bob

Unfortunate to hear about your health issues. I have seen large lots like this one and I believe the best way to sell it would be to break it up, accept offers for individual cards and small chunks of the collection. This allows collectors interested in a few cards buy what they want. It also lets collectors with a lower budget who are interested in your collection have a few cards without buying the whole thing. However, if you want to sell the whole thing all together, I understand.

i hate to see such an unfortunate incident force others to do this, i wish you well and hope you do get that one sustantial offer for it. i will say though, that is one hell of site you got going. lots of details and the time and effort put into just the administration is far beyond the act of actually the gathering. i echo what rusty mentioned, maybe an experienced auction will work ??? they are always hit or miss, but at least the experts there can give an "estimate" of what they think it has the possibly of bringing in. i would also look into posting on several different sites and not just your zip code area (post around major cities in your state- word gets around).. craigslist, FB Martketplace (always been good for me locally), just and idea.. wish you the best!!

Thanks to those of you who have suggested breaking up the collection and selling it in lots; if I can't get an offer on the whole thing, I'll certainly consider that. Also thanks for the advice about other venues for advertising; as I said, I'm just starting out on this venture, and any help is appreciated.
But thanks most of all for your kind words about my website! It has been a labor of love for many years now. Perhaps for many more; God knows.

Hi Robert, Very sorry to hear about your health issues. My family has also been hit with health problems and know what you are going through.
I am brand-spanking-new to TCD and was turned-on to your Mets for sale by another member here. I too collect Mets, and only Mets cards and memorabilia. I am not into jerseys or autographs unless I get them in-person myself. I am interested in Mets Cards(non-base cards as I have ALL of them), yearbooks, programs, ticket stubs, and any oddball items. I did go through your pages a little bit but it would take me too much time to go through and list all the Mets stuff I could use as you have a lot of non-Mets stuff mixed in. Would you happen to have a list of all the Mets stuff you have available? I am only interested in Mets cards that list the player as a Met. I would not be interested in your Aardsma card with him as a SF Giant. Please lmk as I would love to help you out. All the best, Mike

I concure that getting an autograph in person is always the best. however I do have a Gary Carter auto card, 86 Topps AS and recently had a Cone auto 8X10 I gave to my brother that I did not get in person. Low and behold while opening some Archives last year I hit a fan favorite Turk Wendall I'm hanging on to. Made me laugh -someone up abpve is looking out for me! But I highly reccomend Robert aka NYM HALL as I have purchased from him and was not disappointed. I only wish i could have got more!

For me, it isn't JUST the auto. It is the story that goes with it on how it was obtained. I considered myself a "stalker" at one time as I would "camp-out" waiting to get a certain players autograph and then pounce at the opportunity. I don't even like paying for their autos at shows, but have done so in the past few years in order to finish my 1969 Mets ball. Every one of my IP auto's has a story , whether just happening to run into the player at spring training or actually sitting at a picnic table next to a beautiful woman and her 2 kids only to find out she is Nolan Ryan's wife and he came and sat down with us for lunch (Rangers ST 1985). Sorry, no, I don't have any lists available which differentiate whether (for example) Keith Hernandez is listed as a Cardinal or a Met on any given item. Except here on the TCDB, which, of course, doesn't list all of the oddball items I have available.
