Year: 2009

Set: Press Pass (Rate)

Card: #81 Carl Edwards

“ Carl had become my second favorite active driver, but isn't anymore, since he decided to use his car as a weapon. Rumors abound that he will leave Roush-Fenway Racing (Yes, the same Fenway as the Boston Red Sox) at the conclusion of 2014. The 2009 set was a decent one from Press Pass- probably their second best effort, after the 2011 set. The only time Press Pass ever bothered to issue a series 2, although this card is from series 1. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Didn't he just win a race last Sunday? ” -volbox

“ I wonder if it bothers Carl that he has a duck on his fire suit. ” -koloth42

“ Aflac. ” -jlaz10

“ This is kind of like having a Derek Jeter card with the caption proclaiming that Utz Potato Chips just bought a new billboard in right field. ” -revnorb

“ This is a highlight in this guys career? Aflac becoming the Primary Sponsor. Of course, I don't really watch or follow NASCAR, so I could be wrong about this being a big highlight. ” -yokonashiwa

“ Just turn left, Carl ” -Hollywood42

“ He looks just like his car! ” -Luckynumber78

“ Maybe it's my color blindness, but I can't read the word before Forward on the front. Totally blends in with his sleeve. That makes a bad card. ” -switzr1

@switzer- the word before "forward" is Looking. It's silver foil, which does not scan well. Because Press Pass issues the coming year's set so far in advance (this set was issued around Thanksgiving 2008) they produced cards for the few known sponsor changes at the time that year. Which is actually better than most of the time, where nothing in the set reflects the year at all.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

I root for Carl, but I am nowhere near his biggest fan.  His hometown of Columbia, MO is 45 minutes from my house, so everybody around here is a big fan of his.

I like this card, it shows a nice picture of him.  I'm not a fan of the AFLAC logo on the front but oh well.
