Year: 1990

Set: Score (Rate)

Card: #515 Jim Gott

“ I'll admit it. I really do like this set. My only gripe, and it's small - the numbers are not in the same spot on all the cards. REALLY small gripe. :) ” -vrooomed

“ Wow, he's moving so fast his mouth can't even keep up! ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I love when the cards have full stats and a narrative. I rather see that than all the graphics ” -SFC Temple

“ I really like this score design. ” -carthage44

“ Am I the only one who prefers a horizontal back? ” -NJDevils

“ The Pirates, the innovators of pullovers and sansabelt, kept this look way too long. ” -jlaz10

“ I like the oversized and reversed letters that start his first and last name. The border and trim colors look like a Pac-Man cabinet... ” -revnorb

“ I've always liked the colorfully-bordered early Score baseball sets. 1988, 1990, and especially 1991. This was very uncommon in its day. This one has a nice back too. Too bad the 1990 Score Rookie/Traded set isn't colorful like the base set though. ” -switzr1

@NJDevils: No, you're not alone in preferring horizontal backs, but this was Score's "thing" - third year straight of the vertical back. Not a terrible back design.

Vrooomed -  And much better than the backs that have stats one way and photo another.  Do you hear that, Upper Deck?

Oh, those nausea-inducing, multiple-font, text-every-which-way monstrosities???? They're ok. :) NOT!

I've got tons of these old score cards lol. I like the different colors of the set. If you collect them all in one card box it looks cool seeing them in different color blocks. Of course the only value is my personal love for them.

1990 Score was way better looking than 1991 was! I never liked the colored borders being different throughout the set but this design was nice. I have always preferred stats on the backs too, as opposed to more pictures.
