Year: 1996

Set: Signature Rookies Old Judge (Rate)

Card: #28 Chad Renfroe

“ I didn't know they were doing throwback sets as far back as 1996. Cool. I like the throwbacks. Signature Rookies usually made unlicensed cards but I can't tell if this is unlicensed or just a nod to the vintage design with the lack of team name. I am not familiar enough with the vintage baseball sets to know. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ I thought he was another lost angel from the city of night with a halo. ” -Sportzcommish

“ I wonder if he is related to the current top prospect of the Padres Hunter Renfroe. ” -carthage44

“ I have never seen this set before. ” -jayoneill

“ Nice basic retro card. I'm not intimately familiar with the vintage Old Judge designs to know if this is a real retro design or just a modern design loosely based on the original. Nice all around card. ” -captkirk42

“ Not my cup of tea. The T-96 Series denotation almost looks like a halo or a tiara. Very bland, very boring. I'll pass. ” -muskie027

“ This card doesn't work for me. Black letters on navy blue blackground with an even darker navy blue uniform. Too much dark! ” -olerud363

“ I don't know why, perhaps the simplicity, perhaps the colour combonation, but this card really looks good to me. ” -rmpaq5

Ick. I don't like much about the card as a standalone. But it's even worse as a throwback. I've been bidding on some actual Old Judge cards, with the dream of owning one beat up one some day. This card has virtually no resemblance the the originals, except they've written "Old Judge" on it. They didn't even try. No thank you.
