Random Card of the Day

Year: 2008

Set: Upper Deck (Rate)

Card: #26 Mike Piazza

“ I like this for a 00's set. Classic vibrant UD card, decent back. Not great, but not bad. ” -muskie027

“ When I was in school and baseball was discussed, his name was usually mispronounced as "pizza" on purpose. Granted, I think that was 3rd or 4th grade when he got to the majors. ” -Billy Kingsley

“ Upper deck 2008 will still be my favorite card set ever ” -Bargunmaster

“ A nearly flawless card with a classic batting stance, sharp photo with Piazza the lone focus, and the card company's logo occupying an appropriate amount of space on the upper right-hand corner. None of this set are on my Want List, but they will be. ” -Sportzcommish

“ This HOF'er was a 62nd round draft pick! ” -carthage44

“ He wasn't a great defensive catcher. In fact for many years he was lousy. The question I have is would he have been in the Hall of Fame if he puts up the same offensive numbers as a first baseman? ” -Brimose

“ Oakland, eh? Never knew that. ” -DanD

“ I'm not sure which is worse: Piazza as an Athletic or a Padre. Never mind...it's Piazza as a Marlin. Nevertheless, nice card and nice scan. ” -mkaz80

“ Wow! This came out the second year after I started collecting. I liked the simplistic design, but I didn't like the foil they used because it made the cards hard to read sometimes. If these had looked more like the 08 UD first edition I would have liked it more. But, it's not bad. This was Piazza's last base card for UD. What a player he was even in his later years. ” -Slug03

“ Great back of the card. Front is clean and solid also. Only draw back is the small foil making some of the cards in the set difficult to read. ” -rmpaq5

Missed this as the random card. Sigh. Anyway for some reason the 2007 through about 2010 Upper Deck baseball I think are my favortie years for Upper Deck Baseball. I like the first few years of 1991 - 93 but those are not my "fave" years of that brand.

Billy Kingsley's comment made me feel old. He was in 3rd or 4th grade when Piazza came up. I graduated high school in 1992!

Sorry! But, if it helps, it was actually the end of 1st grade. Not that I had become a sports fan yet. I started school the year my brother graduated.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.

Not a bad looking set, I'd probably pull this card out if I ran across it in a stack.
