Hi all,
With the newfound (to me at least) prevalence of SPs and SSPs I was wondering if there is any on-card way of distinguishing them from the normal prints? I did manage to pull an SP Derek Jeter from last year's Topps Archives set but I never would have known that without seeing it here as the photo looked like a completely typical card pose.

Not 100% sure about Archives, but the flagship set has a 12-digit code (or something like that) where the last 4 digits differ for the SPs and SSPs. (And hence the reason people should not upload scans of the backs of these without using the ACTUAL cards.)
Cardboard Connection and/or Beckett usually post the codes. We have not done this, and I'm not sure why we haven't.

It drives me crazy when people put the backs of the common card up in the short print and or SSP versions due to the wrong codes. For somebody who actively collects the short prints, it bothers my OCD. I've asked Admin about it before and never got a definitive answer, so I figured it was just me and let it go. I would love to upload the proper backs of cards for about 90% of my collection, but I can't get rid of the incorrect first.

Codes: The 2018 Topps Series 1 SP variation code ends in 43. SSP variations end in 44.

Thanks for the info, all. Although my example was from 2017 Topps Archives, I was really more looking for a general answer and using the CODE# seems like the way to go.
I also agree that these codes should probably be listed with the sets. This leads to an interesting (to some) philosophical question. Should SPs and SSPs be listed as different (partially parallel) sets since they are clearly handled differently internally at Topps? If I were designing the db from scratch, I probably would have them be different parallel sets, but since it would be very difficult to do this separation I can't really endorse it.
