I have not traded on here, but if/when I do I am fine with shipping first. I would be happy to build up my feedback this way to prove I am trustworthy. I like the idea of seeing how active someone is, if they are online, adding to their collection, posting and contributing to the community would all be good signs. Maybe if someone gets a negative feedback, a day or two suspension can be used as disciplinary action with multiple negative feedback leading to a ban.

Well I have my first trade in process here and looking for more but I also understand the issue with a new trader shipping first.

On the other site I am at I have almost 900 trades but this is not the other site and I am willing to earn my stripes along with anyone else who is willing to take a chance trading cards with me.

We have traded before with no problems on another account HELL I still have your Quantico Bay coin as a gift for all the Browns I sent you once I start on sports again you get my doubles :)

I have only 1 completed trade on here and two in progress, with a couple more just starting to develope.

But i have traded and sent bobzcards over 35,000 cards in multiple trades and purchases offsite, hes my no1 trade partner lol!

Point is ask other really active members who trade alot in a message like billy, bobzcards and others before you accept a trade, chances are they have had succesfull trades with them. No one really knows me that well but im sure bobcardzs would vouch for me as fas as trading goes. 

It's all contemplation until we make names for ourselves on THIS site! It doesn't matter what you've done on other sites, BUT the people on multiple sites tend to know each other when they congregate on here. I'd happily make a 1,000 card trade with T206 b/c I know him well, same for rmpaq5. I know them from Beckett and they are both great members there ( I still don't see why everyone is scared to type the name)! Beckett knows they suck now, but they just don't care. And they sell more ad-space now than I've ever seen on a site that charges money to use it!!! It's so bad that it keeps locking up my Firefox program. Anyway....

I don't even have 20 feedback here yet, but not a single person has asked for me to send first so far. YES, that is the general rule on Beckett (and I still do it there), but on this site I just give an idea of when I can ship. If I don't match that time, I will PM the trader ASAP to tell when I will be able to ship. I also know a couple of members from NUTS that are on here and I'd happily trade with them without concern that the other won't come through. It's all about trust! If you don't trust the other party, add a stipulation such as "you ship first b/c I have more feedback than you". Even though I am closing in on a thousand completed trades/purchases/sells combined through 4 sites, I'm not going to take offense to someone on here telling me that they want me to ship first IF they have a bunch more feedback than I do on TCDB.

I have never been actually "ripped off" with online trading and I've been doing it for a dozen years now. I've had 2 close calls though. One was a USPS mistake, but it was with a great trader that I had dealt with before. We worked together to make the USPS find the package and that was back when a tracking number had to be paid for as a "Delivery Confirmation" number. It took 3 months for the cards to get to me, but I never blamed the other trader. That's where tracking numbers proved their worth for me.

The second time was someone who really did rip me off, but later came back to make good with me (and a few others). He couldn't send me the cards from the original trade, but sent enough cards to make up for the value. However, he was gone from the site shortly after making things right with those other members that caused him to get banned originally. I'm guessing he just bailed on cards OR he knew he couldn't scam anyone else on the site. I haven't heard from him in a few years now.

I would agree with a banning procedure here on TCDB for bad trading techniques, but Admin would have to be totally invested in it. I know it's a lot to monitor if you are trying to keep banned persons from coming back with a different name/identity. But I think the community here polices itself pretty good.

After my first post here, I was thinking about it and concluded that many of these scammers use multiple ID on the same site.  After all, nothing stops someone from creating who knows how many ID. So advertising the name in this post just means he has now been identified under waddle; so he now makes up a new ID to try scamming someone else. We recently had someone who had five or six ID doing this very thing.

The one thing they can't change so easily is their shipping address. Maybe we should be putting these out so that others could write them down (short of a Scammer list on the site). This way, when a new trader pops up, once we Accept a trade and the address shows up, we could check the list to see if there is any scammer with the same (orvery similar) address.

Is there anyway that the mailing address can remain on the trade page after it has been completed.  I actually started a word document copying and pasting the member name and ID along with the address that I shipped to.  I did this just in case I wanted to send extra cards as a gift at a later date, but also for if the cards from a trade never arrived.  This has happened only once to me but I would love to be able to send that person correspondence through the mail letting them know what a disappointment they were.

Personally, I have a small notebook that I write down the mailing addresses in at the same time that I address the mailer, for the purpose of sending surprise cards or the like.

Regarding trader reputation, I look at a lot of factors myself. Site activity is one. As ranfordfan has said, he hasn't completed an official trade on here yet, but I know by his forum presence and site activity that he is well-invested in this site and is a trustworthy member. Other things I consider are other members' recommendations; for example, I don't know T206, but a recommendation from another highly regarded member like Spaz helps and goes a long way. Feedback is also a big help; don't be scared by 93% positive (instead of 100%) right away. Take the time to go through feedback and see what happened. I know I've seen a few members with just one bad feedback rating, and they were all from the same scam account.

Finally, I have one view on sending first: anyone who is asked to send first would have no problem doing it if they aren't a scammer and understand the reasons. If they refuse to send first and won't explain why, and have no reputation on here to fall back on, I would steer clear of that trade.

I have to update my previous post. I didn't think about it at the time I was typing it, but I'm actually at exactly 20 feedback here. I had 2 more added Saturday. I have 3 more trades that are ready to mail and 5 more in a holding pattern until those 3 are completed.
