Move over Vegas. We all thought that 10000 season ticket deposits in 30 days was fantastic. How about 10000 in 12 minutes and 25000 in 30!!! Now that is commitment, especially when the arean will seat just over 17,600 people!! Can anyone say slam dunk to expansion?!?!

Wow, impressive indeed. It will be interesting to see if the Seattle team gets the same kinda pickings in the expansion draft that Vegas Golden Knights did. Or, will they only be offered the bottom of the barrel stuff like they used to do back in the seventies.

Bettman said the exact same rules will apply IF they get approved. ;) And some GMs are even asking for the loop holes to removed, the look the other way trades that went on with Vegas. Should be a fairly good team IF they get one! =P

I think part of the deal for paying $650 million for a team is that the parameters for choosing players would be really similar. Seattle is getting a team 100%. Adds to the list of cities I get to visit for NHL hockey!

I'm loving the prospect of another new team...to me, there's very little in sports as exciting as an expansion team. I love the excitement around it...seeing the team build an idenitity, and being able to feel like i was in on the ground floor...tracking the team's efforts to grow and succeed, something that can usually take a long time, provides enjoyment over a course of years.
I'm hearing the new Seattle team will be named the "Kraken"...I would prefer they called themselves the Metropolitans, that would be a cool nod to history.
The same ownership group is also going to try and resurrect the SuperSonics...which I hope also happens. They have already annouced a pre-season game in the Key Arena for next year, which I suspect may be testing the waters.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I prefer the Metropolitans because of the connection to the original team but most people in the area are leaning towards Steelheads. I have been talking with a number of friends in Seattle and I will admit, I am starting to like the Steelheads name. I moved to Seattle in 1992 and there has always been talk about an NHL expansion but I am finally excited seeing the movemnt going now. First the NHL and before long the Sonics will be back.

The problem with the Metropolitans would be the Mets having a copyright on the name. Remember, they also have a pretty popular CHL team as well, one that will most likely oppose the expansion. However, I do think that they have a very good chance at a team.

I'm excited about a hockey team but not about going to the Key Arena. It is incredibly difficult to get to by public transit and traffic in that area is already a nightmare. Oh well, not that the politicians cared anyway when they sabatogued our other arena deal.

Seattle is a great city for the NHL. I’ve always thought they should have a team and wondered how other cities that do not have hockey knowledge were able to get one before them.
For my vote, they should call them the Seattle Skating Sonics. No, not good? I tried!
