When I went to my local card shop this weekend, the owner hooked me up with a couple team sets for 17-18 Hoops for the Suns and Lakers.  I got a blue parallel card in each of the team sets.  On the packaging, it just said something like "contains a rare blue parallel".  

The thing is, I believe the Hoops release already has a blue parallel that was in blaster boxes.  I don't have any of those blue parallels, but I can tell by the scans here that they don't seem to be the same type of blue parallel.  The ones that came out of the team sets are a lighter and shinier blue.  

I don't think we have the team set blue parallels listed on the site yet.  Does anyone have any information about this to confirm what I am thinking?  And if it needs to be added, I am not sure what to label the parallel.  

Okay so after doing some research, it looks like Panini actually has labeled the team set parallel as "Platinum".  Strange because the package itself says "Blue" even though it is clearly different than the other Blue parallel.  It looks like the Platinum parallel is listed on the database already, and Panini has the Platinum parallel listed on their official checklist.

It also seems like this is correct because the Platinum parallel on the panini website and on here as well does not include the 10 Kobe Bryant tribute cards at the end of the base set.  This would be consistent with this being only for the team sets.  (I got a Lakers team set and those cards were not in it)

Sooo-  I am going to be documenting my Josh Jackson and Lonzo Ball parallels that I got from those sets under "Platinum" and will eventually add the scans there as well.  If anyone has any objections to that or thinks I am wrong, please let me know.  

(I have been a little let down at the lack of responses I have been getting on the forums recently)

Shannon - I think the lack of response can be attributed to two things:

1 - the lack of basketball card knowledge of the mouthiest (myself included) members here

2 - the fact that no one disagrees with what you want to do

Generally, people only speak up when there is dissent. After you and Billy, I don't know who knows b-ball that well. After Star Co, I don't have much help to give.

Sorry Shannon, I simply don't know. Despite the fact that I live in Knicks and Nets country, we have not seen a team set since the 2013-14 season on our shelves. 

Thanks for the reponse Dan.  Yeah, those two points make sense.  I think I was just being too impatient haha.  

Edit:  Thanks to you too Billy! lol  Okay, well I am about 99.9% sure that these parallels are the platinum so I am going to be listing them as such.  And yeah it must depend on the distributors where you are.  My shop only had the Suns and Lakers.  Not a fan of the Lakers but I wasn't about to turn down free cards to add to my collection.
