Phew nearly done with the 4 room makeover.
I see some of you have multiple collections under different logons.
How did you set it up? What was the criteria? How do you transfer cards from 1 collection to another? Are there any pitfalls to multi collections?
Any suggestions, Any Advice,, ~BOB~

I just recently started uploading my collections. All my collections are set up under a single logon. I've labeled them individually as to what they represent. I love being able to separate individual collections from each other because of the way I collect. One of my collections consists only of the Topps cards from the participants in that years World Series starting from my birth year. Therefore the collection would consist of all the 1958 Topps cards of the Braves and the Yankees, all the 1959 Topps cards of the Dodgers and the White Sox.... on and on through the 2017 Astros and Dodgers. Another collection is each years MVP, CY and ROY. One thing I'd like to be able to do, but can't, is to define the parameters of my collection. That way there would be meaningful statistics and results when I looked at any one set.
There are also issues when trying to look at any single collection. I haven't found a way to look at say 1959 Topps and use any of the "browse/share" or the "galleries" features and ONLY include cards from the collection I'm interested in viewing/working with. For example, under "collection summary" within the 1959 Topps set there is a dropdown menu where I can select from any of my defined collections. If I select "All Collections" under the dropdown I see 39/572 and I can use the "browse/share" features to see all 39 cards from all of my collections combined. However If I select just my MVP,CY,ROY collection from the dropdown I see I have 1/572 cards yet the "browse/share" features still identify all the cards from ALL the collections combined and not just the single card from the MVP,CY,ROY collection. Perhaps that's why some have created completely different accounts for each collection. The "cards" feature under each individual collection works as it should and only indicates the haves and wants from that single collection. I wish the other features worked the same way.
I've also made the mistake of entering cards that belonged in one collection while mistakenly being in a different one. I've found no easy way to shift cards from one collection to another, so you need to be careful what you enter under what collection.
I suppose it all depends on what you collect and how you want to track things. I have lists that I've created to track my collections with Microsoft Excel (really should be Access but I don't have it) and Google Sheets. It really would be great to be able to use this site as the only place I need to track my collections. It seems like a tremendous tool that I'm only beginning to understand the full capabilities of.

My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB. Value what you collect, don't collect for value.

Bob,
I created a second ID before the multiple collections under one ID feature was created. The reason I did so was to keep my PC apart from my sets collection. I had initially entered everything under the one ID but that then did not reflect the right numbers in my sets collection. I also listed my traders in the different collection as I hoped to trade stars for stars and HoF for HoF instead of being offered a common for a HOF (yes that happens).
I have now started entering my PC under this ID. I don't know yet if I will enter my HOF/Stars traders here as I am not sure if someone looking at my HOF/Stars Trade list will be able to offer me something from my sets Want List. I hate refusing trades but I really don't want to have to respond to a trade asking for a 1974 Hank Aaron and offering me a 1987 Mike Lavalliere.
The one issue raised by Lerxst of being able to move cards from one collection to another inside one ID is something that I believe Admin is working on. I will be happy to see it come through as it will increase flexibility. Right now, if you use two different ID, you can simply trade from one ID to the other. Just make sure you follow all of the steps in the trade transaction so that it does move the cards from one collection to the other. Best part is you don't have to wait for the Post Office to deliver.

Thanks Sandy !! Now you open more questions?? Leave it to me ~BOB~ for that one, haaaaa.
a] OK, I actually like more than 1 ID, especially for moving cards around. How many are allowable?
b] However, collections within 1 ID might also be helpful for me. Is there directions how to set that up somewhere?
In either case, do you have to undo what you have already entered...ex BOBSCARDZ I have everything entered, shit It would take another year and a half!!!! lol.
Have you encountered any problems like this [although my fault] , being involved with other selling avenues ex.eBay, I can't find cards for TCDB traders because I sold them. Also, I trade outside the manager and get cards [I usually enter] but never remove traded cards. I know Bob you have to stay on top of this stuff!!!, but extremely timeconsuming searching as well as frustrating.
Alright done, thanks for listening, ~BOB~

The request for moving cards between collections has been made (several times) by me. I'm sure he;s tired of hearing the request. LOL
I don't know if there is any limit to the number of IDs you can set up. Not sure how Admin feels about multiple IDs. He hasn't shut any down, so I guess he's not overly opposed.
To set up multiple collections, go to your "Collection" page. At the very bottom, there is a large green button "Create Another Collection". Click it, name it, and then everytime you go to "Collection" from the menu under your ID, you'll go to your "Collections" page. I'm up to 8 at this point, and may expand that even further. Still trying to figure out the best ways to tame the beast I have as well - and I probably have only a quarter of what you have!

Bob,
I don't know if there are any limits to the # of ID. I believe there is someone who has 4 of them. I know a few who have 2.
When the multiple collections feature was created, there was a forum (maybe in the To Do List thread) that had some info. Yes, a guide on how to do it would probably be helpful as there are a few features that would be good to know of before you start.
I would not undo what you have done if you go the multiple ID route. Create the ID and "trade" the cards you want in another ID from this BOBZCARDZ. Once transferred, you can do what you want with them inside the new ID. That should do what I think you wish to do.
As for your ither issue, that is organizationthat solves that issue. I learned through experience. I now have individual piles for many cards. My commons traders are all in one pile of boxes organized by Company, Year, Set, #. So when someone asks for cards from sandyrusty, they are easily found. I have my HOF/Star traders in another pile sorted by Player, Year, Set, #. Again easy to pull cards requested in a trade. None of these are amongmy keepers, sets or PC. Those are in either binders (sets) or 3-row shoe boxes and my old TV converted to card drawers (picture once posted on a thread).
When I do get a trade offer, as I pull the cards requested, if I have an additional one for tradeofa particular card, I clickon the link to the card and add another for trade at that time. When the trade is completed, one disappears frommy list but anotherone shows fortrade. This avoids having to enter 100 cards of one player in my For Trade list. Also avoids cluttering people's searches in my Trade list.
As for trading on other sites, I would suggest that you methodically update all of your sites where you trade before packaging the cards so that your lists stay current. It takes a lot of timeand effort to get an accurate list into any site; lack of organization will soon make the list almost useless. Again, learned through experience. Though I don't trade on multiple sites,I do keep excel sheets of both of my collections which I use when going to card shows oreven flea markets so that I know what I have and need. If I don't keep them up-to-date, they would be useless to me. Because I now use a tablet, I am having to update in two different locations. It takes time but a lot less time than starting over.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask more questions. I know vvrooomed has been using the multiple collections under one ID for longer than I have so he may be able to add more on that subject. I only started yesterday to add my PC to it under this ID.

Told you Dan knew more than I did on the multiple collections subject.

I set up a second collection last month and it was very easy...and it has been easy to use and navigate.
I have not traded from the second collection yet though, so not sure how that part works yet.

Very helpful guys, BUT I then started messing around, logged out, THEN, I couldn't get back in. If you are setup like me it's an automatic signin, who the hell remembers there password? Therefore, how do you change passwords or even better recover your original password [does admin know]?. If I log out and can't get back in, I'm doomed!!! So some helpful advice again, and this time I will write down every userID and Password. I'm such a nummy. TY, again, ~BOB~
Give you guys a few hours to help, as I get ready for another frigid Softball game. lol.

The old password issue - so many sites needing passwords and for some reason we make up new ones for every site. Or at least I used to. For sites like these where, if someone hacked into my account, other than being able to destroy the work I have done cataloguing my collection, there would be little harm done, I use the same password (the only thing that trips that idea up is those who insist on a capital letter and / or a symbol).
To reset your password, go to your Profile page and click on edit profile.
