Thanks again to all the helpful members. BEST SITE EVER.
Think I will try a few things armed with this info.
But, another question? In making a collection, say I want all my EAGLES cards in 1 easy to read collection, will it remove them from my main collection and put them into the "EAGLE Collection" or just show a separate listing of all my owned EAGLE cards?

As of now, moving cards from one collection to the other is a manual process.
If you were create a second collection, add your Eagles cards there, the site would show you having 2 of each, until you deleted them from the main collection. (I'm actually in the process right now of moving stuff from the Main Collection into the segments I wish to use and it's all doing it basically set by set. I am starting with the easiest to move and hoping by time I get to the most complicated ones, Admin will have something in place to move from one collection to another.)

BUT, let's say I want to make the EAGLE collection and I have the 1957 Topps set. I would certainly want the entire set to remain intact in the main Collection. OK so I decide to make the EAGLE collection....I will see the entire 1957 set in my Main collection yet see only Eagles in the EAGLE Collection from that set. And what you are saying is that ANY Eagle card from the 1957 topps would appear 2x but I really have only 1. And to further this idea along, any where a card is placed will appear again, like HOF, graduated from Penn Ste. So in this scenario, a card could be in the main collection and also appear in 3 other collections, showing 4 but only really have 1 in hand.

Quick answer - No.
Long answer - If you put the 1957 football set in your main Collection, that's the only place it is. If you add the Eagles players from that set to an "Eagles" collection, it is assumed that you have a separate collection for Eagles in addition to the set listed in the Main Collection. Same goes for any other collections.
As you know, I collect Phillies cards. I also collect complete sets. The complete sets have the Phillies cards in them, so I do actually own 2 copies of several cards. If I lumped them in the Main Collection, the count would only show the complete set total, and not add in the Phillies cards I have as well. By breaking out a Baseball Sets collection and a Philadelphia Phillies collection, I can see all the cards I have in sets as well as all the cards I have in my Phillies collection - add the numbers together and get a real count of what I own.
This was not intended to "tag" cards as being part of "Sets", "Team", "HOF", "College", etc. If you have one card, list it in the collection you keep it in. That's the scenario you describe.
The multiple collections feature was designed to solve primarily these two issues:
- Have a true count of the cards in collections, even if multiple copies of a card is owned and fits in multiple spots
- When a copy is already owned and in one collection, but another one is sought for another collection
So, in an additional collection, you will only see what you add to that collection.
Did that help?

Dan, Thanks, Yes, I get it. Seems a bit confusing, I'm trying to decide whether multiple collections meet my needs or just make multiple IDs would be better. I'll have to sit own and compare pros and cons of each, feel free to add what you think are pros and cons of each.
However, if you can't move cards from 1 collection to another, the only PRO to me would be for listing dupes +, that you have, sound right?

Bob,
The only con right now of multiple collections is the inability to move cards from one collection to the other as in a trade. Different ID allow you to trade from one to the other easing the transfer. But I am sure Admin is working on this issue and will resolve it.
The only other issue I am not sure about is the trading within multiple collecctions. If I have an 1971 Aaron card for trade in my HOF collection and have a 1986 Damaso Garcia in my want list in my set collection, can you offer me the Garcia card for the Aaron card, in other words crossing my collections? I rather not have that hassle of senseless trade proposals. So for now, I am only putting my HOF collection on this ID and will keep my second ID for trades of HOF / stars I collect.
But I will say that having more than one ID is also a pain. You can only log on to one account under one browser. I am constantly having to remember to check my emails in a different account than the one I usually use to see if there are any trade proposals waiting for me. If there is, I have to log off this account, log into the other one, accept, complete the trade and constantly return to it as the trade goes through. When Admin gets these few remaining issues added, having everything under one ID will be better.
If you are just starting to load things, you may as well do it where it will eventually reside.
Just my thoughts...

As far as I can tell, anything within your ID is available for trade consideration. And as much as I realize a Damaso Garcia for a Hank Aaron is lopsided and a time waster, is this a daily occurrence? I would hope not. But even if it is, it doesn't take much to clikc "decline".

The shocking thing is that it happens at all.

All good info for me. Now, I just have to figure out what works best for me.
#1. I would like to get all tradable cards separated from my collection. And I have a reason, TOO many cards.
#2. Thinking about sub-collections to easily recognize my Faves like, A's, Eagles, Stickers, Logos etc.
#3. Another thought is separate IDs for different sports with sub-collections.
Anyway, I'm not totally done reorganizing, that old "plan ahead" adage is definitely me. I also gotta think every TCDB member would have their own design based on individual interests.
But thanks again for your input, special thanks to vroomed and sandy for getting the old brain thinking. ~BOB~
