So I picked up a pack of 2018 Donruss at local box store.  I open the pack and in there is a Justin Bour Diamon Kings with only the copyright and licensing info on the back.  After looking around, I find that it is supposed to be like that.  

This might be a dumb question but what's the point of having a blank back parallel set?

Because 44 parallel sets isn't enough.  Gotta have 45

What is the point of having a purple, blue, yellow, gold, platinum, and red parallels?

The O-Pee-Chee Platinum set rainbow parallels the only difference is they say Rainbow on the back.

As far as I am concerned,  there should be only one parallel per set.  The base set should be the reason for collecting, not the inserts.

Collectors tend to be an obsessive bunch. I'm just surprised companies haven't started with blank front parallels yet. 

I'm one of the apparently very few people who loves the parallels, but even I don't like the blank back versions. They did that in 2016-17 Complete NBA, I pulled a few of them out of the blasters I did. Would much rather have gotten another base card or gray parallel (which they called silver)
