Another question for the site. Let's say an action figure, a diecast car, perhaps a model, even a comic book or a magazine, some other collectible entity includes with it a trading card, something that denotes the item itself. It may not be numbered or named (like a series), and the cards are not sold separately by themselves (secondary market excluded).
It could be something of a one-off card (and I mean a true card, not cardboard packaging cut in a rectangle). Or it could be that a wave or subset of a line had a card with each member, where you could say I have all four action figures and all four enclosed cards.
It just isn't sold mainly and separately as a card or series of cards.
Would these be cards that the site would want to track? I guess the naming conventions would have to be decided as to how to name the card set.
Has this type of card been asked about before?

I've eaten stuff I didn't like just to get the cards that were packed in, and even bought a Blu-ray disc for the exclusive promo card before I had a Blu-ray player.

OK, this is closer to my thoughts than a Starting Lineup figure. Did you then add those cards to the site, and have to 'create' the naming convention?
As far as Starting Lineup figures, I guess I'm thinking things other than real life sports figures. Sports for so long already have a trading card system in place, where it would be easy to create a pack in card to some other collectible that greatly resembles the style of true trading cards.
Is there any way to attach a pic to a reply, or are all pics only uploads to sets?
I guess I'm getting ahead of myself as I have other things to yet do, but I was just thinking of a few stray cards I have that came with other items, and wondering if they would be worth noting.

If you followed recent posts, the issue of "Other Collectibles" has surfaced again. ADMIN has given me the "green light" to expand the FAQs into a guide that hopefully defines the subject better.
That guide is in the draft stage, I've been posting "needed info" from ALL members on any comments and suggestions. PM me or email me @ bobscardz@aol.com.

Trading cards that come with other items are Trading Cards and that's exactly what we put in the database here. Whether the card came with a toy car, little statue, VCR, DVD player, cereal, pet, coin, pin, bubble gum, or tobacco, it's a trading card.
If it was a Coin issue that came with cards, we'll track the cards only. (Just like the SLUs, we have the cards, but not the figures.)
If it was a card issue that came with coins (or medallions), we'll track both the cards and the metal discs.

Other than real life sports figures......Herei is non-sport sport card that was packaged with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda way back in 1895. This set is very collectiblbe and is listed in the database. Non-sports cards have been around a little longer than sports cards and I would go so far as to say that sports cards resemble true trade cards. The cards you have may already be listed in the database, I reccomend posting a picture in the "Mystery Forum" if you have trouble finding a card . Sometimes unusual cards can be hard to find.
You can post pictures in a forum posting if the image is already hosted on another site. Copy the address of the image you want to display and then click the image icon from the menu. and paste the URL in the appropriate field.
