Since most uniforms have multiple colors (and in baseball, there are plenty of teams with pinstriping), it would basically make it so that every card would be unique. (For example, the 2013 Topps Chasing History Mike Schmidt GJ card - most have a pin stripe in it, and in some cases it's to the left, in some to the right, and others are right in the middle. Some have no stripe at all. some are angled slightly, some are straight.) I have hockey ones that are fully two colors with some that also have a two-color swatch. I can't see how we could categorize these as variations. It would be like listing color gradient variations on cards where the ink wasn't as sharp on some cards as others, etc. 

 I thought the same thing, that could get ugly if we went with all of the variations, but again, does not hurt to ask the experts on the site. I will leave my version off and move on. 

 Speaking as a colorblind man, please PLEASE don't add color variations of a patch.  I already have so many basic parallel cards that I can't add to my database collection because I don't know which color they are. I'm probably not the only member with this problem, but I may be the only one to ever bring it up.

Simple answer NO.

Although each and every card in this type of card is unique and is technically "1/1" because of the individual swatch piece the card itself and its assigned number (or combinations of letters as a number) is not. Each card of this type shares the "card number" and is one of how many they made of that particular card similar to the common base cards but in far fewer numbers. Even if it is not serial numbered although I think any relic should be serial numbered since by nature they have fewer mass numbers than a simple base card. Besides there is no way of knowing exactly how many "variations" there are. Say they cut only one jersey up to make these cards. I don't know exactly how many 1" squares they can make out of a single jersey so lets just say they made 2,000. How many of those 2,000 would be a plain white 1" swatch with no other colors? At least half. Say there are 50 cards that have part of the jersey number from the back, 10 cards have part of the team logo. That is only part of the cards and already you have 3 "different" cards all with the same assigned number from an unknown number of "variants".

Also how the heck would you designate the different variations? Even though the process for making relic cards can be pretty precise and they have figured out who to most efficiently get 1" squares out of each piece of memorbilia there is still some excess pieces that will eventually be scrapped away as unuseable trash. Think like when you use a cookie cutter there is that excess dough that evenually will be too small to make a proper cookie out of. From what I've seen of the process (there was a video online that showed some of the process) they don't keep track of where each individual piece actually came from. The process is sort of the opposite of putting a jigsaw puzzle together only they are pulling the puzzle apart and placing each piece into a single card. They don't record which piece goes into which card.

HOWEVER, I will say that I have mentioned on a couple of relic cards in the comment box about a variation. For example: the 2013 Gypsy Queen Relic card for Alcides Escobar scan shows a jersey. I have that, but also have a relic card with a piece of bat. The same "number" is on both cards.

Swatches are unique, of course, but there would be way too many variations to add, and given that some don't have a stated print run, you'd never truly know if you had all the "variations".

kcjays - that is truly a variation. Jersey vs. Bat. But different colors? No. Like I said, I have a card with a pinstripe. It's on the right side of the swatch. Do we list variations of it running down the left, in the middle, slightly crooked from top to bottom? Infinite variations. Just about every card then is unique. And cannot be listed.

I would say no...BUT...I would not mind if Admin allowed us to post variations somewhere. I have one jersey card that I have three copies of, one white, one blue and one black with silver stripe.

When I have multiple copies with different colors, that is the only time I list having multiple copies in my collection.

If you'd like to denote things like this, I'd suggest adding it to your notes in the details. You can also click on the dropdown menu next to the checkbox that signifies it's in your collection. From there, if you click "View/Add Image" you can add a scan of the copy that you personally own. I've done this for my autographed cards.
