So today I bought this card set that is about the movie "Eight Men Out". Came home and I thought I would load it in the database in my collection. As it is a movie, I went into non-sports and searched it only to fiind that it wasn't there. So to findout more information about the set, I googled it and the first hit was from this database. I realized that it was loaded as a Baseball set and not a Non-Sport set. Even the cards picturing the actor in the role of the ball players are connected to the player in the database. Not sure if this is really the right thing for this database.
So I ask, should this set be moved to Non-Sport and the cards delinked from the player's PID or should it remain where it is? Thoughts?

Non-Sport as it is a movie based on a sport. Just my 2 cents.

Was it a standalone set? If so then it should go in the non-sport, if it was part of an insert set (like the 2014 Major League cards), then it should stay in baseball.
As for the PID's, I don't have a problem with them being linked to who they played as long as the actors themselves are also linked to the card.

It's a stand alone set, had some packs of it, pretty decent looking stuff. 110 cards put out by Pacific in 1988, also issued as a factory set.
It's listed on Jeff Allender's non-sport checklist site. Not sure the movie even had any real, as in famous or pro players in it.

Yes a stand alone set based on the Baseball themed movie. There are also some "historical" cards in the set that show the real "Black Sox" players and personalities from the time. Those personality cards might be the reason people considered the set "baseball". Personally I think of this set (and the 1994 "Damn Yankees" Broadway set) as Non-Sport (entertainment/movie/television) even though the main subject is Baseball.

Well...my 2 cents;
Never ever thought
of anything other
than a Baseball
Set. In my
collection it is
displayed on my
small baseball set
shelf and that is
where it will stay.
Thanks, ~BOB~

Never gave it much thought. Now, I have to agree that it is a Movie set. Not one real ball player on it, so how you can put it with guys who played.

I'm up in the air on this one. I can see both sides of it. Space Jam is in here as non-sport. Comic Ball is in here as baseball. One could make valid arguments that both of these are wrong. I can't think of any other sports movies off-hand that had sets of cards. (I realize Comic Ball is not a movie). Hard to say anyone is right or wrong in this discussion.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

definitely does not belong in Baseball; belongs in Non-Sport Movies

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
