Hi Everybody, on the 5th I lost almost 250 cards to a flood. At least one of the cards is one that my brother gave me in 1988 that got me started collecting.
I lost both NBA and Star Wars. I also lost 300+ NASCAR duplicates that make up my tradelist, but since they were duplicates I am not needing to replace them.
I posted a list and some pictures on my card blog....if any of you can help me replace these cards, I would be forever greatful and I will definitly trade for or even outright buy them...whatever is nessicary. cardboardhistory.blogspot.com/2015/02/list-of-cards-lost-to-flood-with.html
It was the worst day I've ever had in the hobby...and to add insult to injury, it happened 13 years to the day after I lost my dad to cancer.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. That's terrible news Billy. I've glanced at my basketball collection entered in the database and don't see anything. But I still have a lot of cards to put in. I will keep my eyes open for these if I come across any boxes of basketball from the 90s. I know I don't have any of the older basketball, or the Nascar and Star Wars, but hopefully I will come across something on the basketball list that I can send your way.
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Billy, so sorry to hear about your losses (including the anniversary of the worst kind).
More than 20 years ago, I lost about 12,000 baseball cards in a flood in my apartment in Florida (water pipe exiting the water heater separated from the heater spewing 100s of gallons of water into the apartment). I had a 5,000-count monster box with 1974, 1978, 1979 Topps cards, and 1981 Donruss & Fleer. Another monster box had mostly 1991 Topps in it (yes, the whole box was mostly Topps). Third box was mostly Star Company stuff, about 2,000 cards in that box.
Fortunately, the cards were the only items that were destroyed in our flood. Unfortunately, we had no insurance for them.
Billy, as far as the cards go, I know the feeling.

I will see what I can do here. I probably have nothing in the 2000s but a good chane with the early 90's. Hang in there. I don't have my collection in plastic tubs but I think that is the way to go. Protects the cardboard and they float.

Very sorry to hear about you losing your cards. Like you said, it's good that some don't need replacing. Losing mine to a flood or fire is like my worst fear. Especially, when you spend most of your life collecting. I don't collect what you lost, so I wish I could help you. I honestly feel like I'd run into a burning building for my Selanne collection and my box of higher end cards. Sounds stupid I know....Good Luck, Billy.

Sorry to hear that, moisture and cardboard don't mix well, had some cards get ruined before in albums. Real mess to deal with, in fact still got a couple I am afraid to even pull out, been in there about 15 years.
Might have some of the basketball you need to replace, just going through 3,200 count boxes might take me a while though. Most of what I have tons of is from '89 up to '00.
