I was out last night shopping and the urge hit me. So I picked up a hanger and blaster box of Gypsy Queen and also a hanger box of WWE Chrome. Needless to say my card budget for the next month is busted, until Topps Series 2 comes out, but this isn't about that it's about what was in the boxes.
In the WWE box. Pretty run of the mill. The cards looked pretty cool. I'm a big wrestling fan by the way, Hulk Hogan tribute card, Sting tribute card and refractors of Cesaro and Ambrose. Those would make most wrestling fan happy. But the big thing was Night of Champions Mat Relic with Cesaro. Cesaro is an amazing wrestler for people that don't watch. He does outstanding things with his strength in the ring that I've never seen done before and I've been watching for nearly 25 years. He's incredible.
The Gypsy Queen hanger was a different story. Mostly commons and a few doubles for me. When I opened it, I saw a thick card in the middle, so I took my time getting to it. Common, common, common, Mike Trout first card of the base set i didn't have, short print of the Hammer of God Mariano Rivera. Then the thick middle card. Yadier Molina relic. Which made me extremely happy because I'm a Cardinals fan and every Cardinals fan loves Molina. If you're a baseball fan you should love Molina just for the way he plays. I read somewhere here on the site someone doesn't buy hanger boxes because they don't think they can pull a cool card with them. Well, I got relic of one of my favorite players, base card of the top player in baseball and a short print of argueably the greatest closer of all time. I think those are pretty cool cards.
Now onto the blaster box of Gypsy Queen. I've only opened four of the eight packs.I'm saving the other four for when I need something to rip open in the next month. First pack was doubles I had and couple commons I had, one of the doubles was Jeter, not a bad one to have. Second pack was all new cards for me, including Jason Heyward in Cardinals uniform. Happy. Third pack mostly commons I didn't have, a double of Ripken, again not a bad one to have. That pack also had Billy Hamilton and the Hamilton Glove Stories. Odd, but an early pack of Qypsy Queen I had had both the Matt Holliday short print and Mini in it. Which is more strange?
The last pack I opened from the blaster was interesting. Three commons, a mini of Johnny Peralta. Another Cardinal and then the middle card. Another relic this time of Cardinal Kolten Wong. It's a Framed Mini. Seeing them online I wasn't too struck with them, but it looks really nice person. There is one problem with it though. It's not in the frame straight. You can see a little daylight between the Mini and the frame. It's not a big deal to me. I'm not going to sell or trade it. It's staying with me, what kind of Cardinal fan would I be?
Three boxes. Three relics. Four packs left unopened. Not too bad, especially considering I'm a fan of the three guys I got relics of.
Thanks to those who read this super long post. The WWE Chrome cards have been scanned and posted here and the Gypsy Queen are scanned. I just need to crop them. Rainy Memorial Day weekend, so maybe sooner than later.
CJF, from the middle of nowhere. Hiya buddies!
