I don't know if anyone else is having the same symptoms as me, but I am totally addicted to the Trading Card Database. I cannot stay away. All the other cards sites are no longer in my life. I prefer this over television. It does not matter how many hours I spend at a time, I do not grow tired of the site. I am like a teenage video gamer with my cards site. I think I will be scanning until my last day on this planet.

I agree mostly. I do have to take a break from time to time though. After a couple weeks of adding scans almost nightly, I need a few days off. Only when I'm at a good stopping place though. Aside from scans, I also like adding info and checklists that are missing. I haven't added anything since Saturday, but I am fixing to add some scans of a few cards that arrived today. I love this site.

I am sitting at Taco bell, replying to this on my phone, if that tells you anything!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Definitely. I only joined about 6 weeks ago and have made some great trades and managed to add a few checklists and a couple hundred scans so far and even crop cards when i get tired of going to the scanner. I am moving from DC to Alabama at the end of the month so TCDB will be my lifeline to the hobby. Love this site. Bill

Addicting might not be a strong enough word for me. My entire living area and 2 tables are covered with boxes of cards and wifee is threatening to throw them all out. Have also only been on here a couple of months and recently started trading and I now get excited like when i was 10 again whenever i get a package in the mail. Can't wait to get home in the evening and look at all the cards that have been stored away since the early 90's and children entered the picture.

Not quite that bad but it is a daily routine now for sure, lol. I can stay away for a few days but am always back either scanning in my Ranford collection, correcting sets that he is in or adding new ones. I try to make a break to do chores now and again, keeps the wife in a good mood!! Won't see me Friday though it is our 5th wedding anniversary, I think she'd kill me if I played with my hockey cards on that day!! ROFL.

I spent my first few months here adding cards that I have for trade. Then I started adding scans and info. Then I started adding my actual PC cards along with every bit of info/scans that I could add for those. I have really only focused on my Racing PC so far and randomly added a bunch of non-sports cards. I have SO much left to add in every sport! My MLB collection is huge compared to any other sport and I haven't even started on it yet. My NFL collection is the next biggest one and my NBA collection is still bigger than my Racing collection, even though I stopped collecting those about 2001. I have so much more to add as far as scans and info.
This site is intentionally my 3rd card site that I visit every day b/c I know I will spend more time here. Beckett is my first site b/c I run a NASCAR Fantasy game there, so I have to check in every day to see who made their picks for the next race. I also have to see if I have any Trade Offers there b/c EVERYTHING I own is listed on their site! It took me over 3 years to add every card I had then (that is listed in their Database) to my "Organize" and I add everything that I acquire to there when I get it. NUTS is #2 b/c that is where I make most of my trades/purchases now and I am in 2 Fantasy games on there. After I check out all the recent activity on those, I come here and get to work! This site is great and having about 30 years of collecting knowledge/experience to share helps me contribute to the site in every way. I have mostly focused on NASCAR cards since 2011 b/c of Topps (and somewhat b/c of Panini and UD). Panini is starting to get strong in the American card industry though and their childish designs at the beginning are getting much better. I'm tempted to get back into NFL cards now. Especially since Press Pass closed and there are no new NASCAR cards available (I saw this coming several years ago)! I hope a company picks up NASCAR within the next year (as long as it isn't Topps), but I don't know if anyone will. UD has done it before and had great designs but I don't think they'll jump on it. Even though they are hurting b/c of Panini's NCAA FB licenses (which caused PP to close), I don't think they want the hassle of getting NASCAR licenses. I don't really want Panini to get it b/c they are stretched so far with all of the contracts that they already have. I think a NASCAR release from them would really be a company-wide afterthought. There wouldn't be much focus on it and it would be sloppy. My greatest hope for the card industry is that MLB realizes how bad of a mistake they made by giving Topps the monopoly of baseball cards. That's the worst thing to happen to sports cards since the late-90's when MLB/NFL/NBA refused to put a limit on the number of releases a company could make of that sports' cards!
Okay, sorry folks! I went on a little rant there. My name tells you that I do that occasionally! :) Sorry for that, but I meant everything I said. Anyway, it's time for me to get back to scanning cards.

Spaz, surprisingly we both joined this site about the same time and my thoughts are similar to yours though I only collect baseball seriously. My approach was similar to yours at first and have expanded to entering images of the cards in my collection that are not here yet. Because I am in Canada, I have an extensive O Pee Chee collection and I know those sets are missing many images. So I will be kept busy for months which is fine with me as I near retirement in 8 months time. Checklists of remote sets are always nice to add as are corrections to many entries.
Best part of the site though, is the sharing of information between true collectors. So many questions have been answered here that solves some of those mysteries we have in cards picked up randomly, be it from yard sales, flea markets or included in a larger purchase.
Love this site, tell my friends of it, and can't see myself leaving it any time soon.
