Though they don't have cards on the DB, today, January 8 is the birthday of two great minds, Stephen Hawking and Soupy Sales.

I'm legit surprised, maybe even disappointed, that neither of those guys are on a card. Get it together, card companies!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

That would explain all the Elvis movies on TV the other day, Kent! I didn't know.
And thanks, C2, for those scans. I'm going to create a Soupy Sales PID now, and maybe NJDevils will add his birthday so we don't miss it next year.

Update:
I just added Soupy Sales, and it turns out he was also on 3 cards in 2013!
I don't want to assume he is pictured in all the cards in his 1965 set, so I only linked the one you had the scan of.

I also just added the checklist for the Famous Fabrics set and came across something I have never seen in card collecting before. All the cards, base set or otherwise, come already slabbed by Leaf. Not graded. Just slabbed in a slab gimmick. There are 30 of each base card advertised. But the cards themselves are not serial numbered. The sticker on the slab is numbered. Because of this, I did not use the SN30 note on the base cards. In my mind, the cards are not serial numbered. I think, if I were paying $1,250.00+ [edit: I was mistaken about this price] for a pack of three cards, I would want the number ON THE CARD. Even the 1/1 cut autographs that are the selling point don't appear to be numbered on the card. Only on the slab sticker. I know this is getting away from the original topic of Stephen Hawking's birthday (he's in this set) but did I do this right by not calling them SN30?

I agree David. The CARD is not serial numbered. The CAPSULE isn't serial numbered. It's a LABEL that's serial numbered. This came up before with ITG hockey. My position is, what happens if the card is removed from the slab? Be it done on purpose or because of a damaged capsule. That card in-hand does not have a serial number. All you have is a serial numbered label.
Another way to look at it; PSA encapsulated cards have a number on the label. Does that make the card inside the slab a numbered card?

Thanks for the back-up there C2. I even came across a message board with people complaining that the stickers are falling off of the capsules, and that a lot of the capsules arrived cracked.
Also, Leaf didn't release a checklist for the 1/1 signatures, so I left that as a missing checklist.
I would NEVER buy a product like this. This particular set is supposed to be people who made America over the last 250 years. They advertise Abraham Lincoln. One poor bloke pulled Vince Gill. At $180/pack.
