Well, it happened. After almost exactly two years on this site, I have fallen from the top 100 baseball card collections. I think I debuted at #43. I think it's more that a lot of people have joined, which is great. But it's also that I just couldn't keep up with the thousands of modern cards people collect. But, although in my heart I know I have a top 100 vintage collection, I shall strive to claw my way back into the top 100 overall baseball list. Beware numbers 98 through 100. I'm coming for you!

I totally forgot that you could check that kind of stat. I have not looked at those pages in over a year.
It's kind of sad that I am ranked tied for 11th for tennis...considering I have exactly one pack's worth of cards. (which I bought specifically so I could contribute something for tennis to the Database) A local shop has more tennis packs for cheap. I should pick up a couple so I can move myself into the top 10, LOL. A second pack would do it!
Interesting how in the top 10 overall, almost half are names I don't see posting in the message board or posting scans, although they may be posting to other sports and I have not seen them yet.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Also, unfortunately, it's a stat that can totally be inflated by incorrect data.

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 3/4/2024). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned on (details are in my profile).

I don't know if I knew about it or not. I kind of want to know where I stand, but don't really care that much about status. In my heart I know my vintage stuff kicks arse. I also know that most of my stuff has yet to be cataloged at all let alone marked on the database.

I never really viewed this as a competition

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Eh, I look at it as a friendly competition. It was kind of neat when after 2 1/2 years as a member I had contributed the most Fergie Jenkins (Baseball) cards. He's the player I collect. It didn't last long, but I still think it is fun to look.
