I recently bougtht one of those "repackaged" cubes of cards from Shopko. It came with a certain number of cards, 1 memorabilia card and 8 packs. From those packs I pulled 2 more memorabilia cards, an auto card, and a redemption card for 2013 Panini Prizm Rookie Autographs of Vance McDonald. The redemption card stated an expiration date of 4/1/2015. However, I went on the Panini site and entered the redemption code on the card anyways, just because, why not right? 2 weeks later I checked back on it, and it read that the card had been shipped. I was amazed! I have pulled redemption cards before, and they were almost always already expired when I got them. I have redemption cards from Topps, Upper Deck, Fleer, Score, Collector's Choice and Pinnacle (obviously older ones from when they were still mostly separate companies). None of the expired redemption cards from the other companies were honored (although, the redemption cards themselves were sent back in each instance, so there is that!), so finding Panini honor a redemption that was almost a year past its expiration and 3 years after the set was released was a very pleasant surprise, and I want to commend Panini on being an awesome enough company to still honor it!

Good. It sounds like they are following the example set by Press Pass. Press Pass' policy for expired redemptions was that after expiration they would not guarantee that you would get the stated card, but if they still had the card they would honor the redemption. If they didn't have the card anymore, they would send you something similar. From what I'd heard, they would always send something, no matter how old the redemption was.
Hopefully Panini continues this tradition with their upcoming NASCAR products.

I don't understand why there needs to be a limit on redemptions anyway. If Company A inserts 100 cards for redemption of X Player, then they should have 100 items from X Player to send out. Whether that happens in a year, 2 years, or 5 years. I understand they may not want to hold on to and keep catalogued thousands and thousands of redeemable product, but you got to think that most of it gets redeemed within the first year and really, how much room would it take up if it's only cards? (Now, like bobleheads or signed balls or other memorabilia, I get having a limit on that.)

Okay Billy, I'll grant you that "no matter how old" was an exageration, but I don't think that the evidence bears out your use of the word "usually" either.
All of the other forums' search engines seem to be down at the moment, so I can't find the posts I'm remembering, but I seem to remember a lot of posts on NUTS and SCF about people having sucess with expired redemptions and only a couple where there was disagreement over whether or not Press Pass had recieved the redemption. Yours is the first story I can remember of anyone being flat refused, at least in the last 5 years or so that they were open.
My point was that the stories of Press Pass honoring expired redemptions generated a lot of good chatter on the boards for them and I hope Panini has taken notice of that.

I had a good experience with Panini, although it took about three years to materialize. I had a redemption for a Dion Waiters something something card. Put in the code and forgot all about it. Found the redemption when I moved a year later. Didn't think I ever got the card so I checked the site and it was still in pending status or whatever. Waited a few more months, still no card. Questioned them about it. They said that Waiters had never returned the cards he was given to sign (or possibly stickers; they weren't clear). I had the option to wait, or exchange for a similarly valued card, because a set amount of time had passed. I waited it out another year or so. Still nothing, so I took them up on their offer to exchange. While I couldn't choose the specific card, set, or player, I could tell them my favorite team and they would try to hook me up that way. A little while later, I had an auto jersey card of one of my favorite Pacers, George Hill, serial numbered /50. Meanwhile, Waiters averages 53 games played per season (out of 82), and is averaging 9 PPG off the Thunder bench this year.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
