I have "graduated" and am now starting to collect the older stuff, pre-1980...I am finding a lot of team checklist cards with white backing...Is this the "send $1 and we'll send you the team checklist"...?

I have no idea what you are talking about here. Since no one else posted all day, I'd say we need more info to help you.

I've found them in both the 1975 Topps and 1980 Topps baseball sets...They look exactly like the regular Topps team checklist cards, but with white backing. Normally I'd say someone created the card, but I bought these cards from two different partys. I know you used to be able to send away to Topps and they would send you the team checklist cards, so I was just wondering if these were those. Thank you both for the help, it's driving me crazy.

Yes, the baseball team checklist cards that were obtained in sheet form by sending in what seems like a small amount of money nowadays were printed on a different card stock. Both of the years you have mentioned are already listed here on TCDB under Mail-In Sets in their respective "Insert and Related Sets" for those products. This was also the case for several other years as well. Looking back, I wish I had spent the couple bucks each year to get these, but also, I really didn't have the means (as a grammar-school kid).

I think those "mail in" checklist cards were also much thinner, more like regular paper than cardboard. That is another way to tell. Also to the best of my knowledge they were usually mailed as full sheets so if the edges are cut strangely or look like a five-year old cut them out of a coloring book they are the mail-ins.

Thank you gentlemen...Yes, the "stock" looks like paper, the backs are white and the cards themselves look like they were cut by a five-year-old...Thank you for clearing it up for me guys...
