I have an 05 Upper Deck NL Artifacts Greg Maddux Relic card #NL-GM (S/N 241/275). The front of the card shows the Cubs logo and Greg is in a Cubs uniform. On the back it says (paraphrasing): "Congrats, you have received a game used jersey worn by Greg Maddux in a Braves baseball game." The relic is solid white, so there's no way of telling if it's a piece of Braves or Cubs uni. Since Greg had already been back on the Cubs for a more than a year when this card came out, is it simply an error? Thanks.

Chicago Cubs is the team associated with the card. It's very likely the artifact is from his Braves uniform. I've seen other cards that have a player's former team piece of MEM on it.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

As much as I agree with two great members in C2C and Billy, they haven't mentioned the one thing that I thought they would say. It should be listed as a Cubs card, but the Note 2 should state "JSY is ATL Braves".

Considering the vagueness of the swatch itself, you would think UD might have kept their mouths shut and just called it a game-used jersey without designating a team. I own plenty of G-U cards that don't even tell if the relic is from shirt or pants, let alone the team. Good for them with their honesty!

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

It's not necessarily an error card, so you guys have answered my question. To me it's still a sticky wicket whether to call it a Cubs or Braves card though. It's sort of like if I bought a Yugo and put a Ferrari emblem on the hood. Is it now a Ferrari? If the relic is a Braves uniform, then to me it's a Braves card - regardless of what logo appears on the front.

My 2 cents....Hey, it does say "in a official Braves Major League Baseball game", maybe he was playing as a Cub against the Braves.

That would be another possiblility but probably not. As already stated it would take UD time to get a uniform of the player from his new team. In this case the card came out while the player was in his 2nd year with his "new" team, which in Maddux's case was actually his "new/old" team as he began his career with the Cubs. So that leads actually to a third possibility that the uni was from his original days with the Cubs. Again probably not. Also they don't make any specific mention of "WHEN" the game was played. Even though they might have kept track of when, where, how they had acquired the jersey in the first place, they would rarely mention that info on the card.
