I was looking at something earlier and stumbled upon this.  Apparently Saturday is National Baseball Card Day where card shops will hand out packs of specially designed Topps cards.  This was the first I heard about it but I read that it was announced in like February and talked about during the National.  Does anyone have any more details, and is anyone planning on getting some?  I might be close enough to a shop or two that I might stop by but I don't know.  I also read that if you spend over 10 bucks some shops will inclued a special Kris Bryant card.

I might have to make some plans for this weekend now.

Great idea! If there can be a National Comic Book Day, why not one for my favorite hobby.  I'll be in Minneapolis this weekend to watch my Royals play the Twins. Does anyone know if there is a card shop around there?  Of course I can check the Internet, but if anyone has a recommendation I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks C2 for the suggestion. I wasn't aware that link existed. After looking at it I wonder how "valid" it is. I notice it referred to several 2015 cards as the latest releases. Obviously it hasn't been updated for several months. Great starting point though. Thanks again for the help!

Call before you go. Also, google card shops near your town/city and see what comes up. Still should call before you go with those as well. I did that a couple years back when looking for something specific at card shops, and was amazed how many were still listed but no longer existed.

The 2016 Topps National Baseball Card Day takes place on Saturday, August 13. In this age where everything is a special “Day,” why should this matter to card collectors? It’s simple — free cards.

Topps has made an exclusive set for 2016 National Baseball Card Day with more than 30 cards. The model is similar to that Upper Deck has been using for National Hockey Card Day. If you go to a participating shop, you get a free pack of six cards. Both American and Canadian stores are included in the promotion.

One card that isn’t in packs is Kris Bryant. To get his, you have to make a qualifying purchase of $10 or more. While supplies last, an Ultra-Pro One-Touch holder will also be given out.

To help promote National Baseball Card Day, Topps is hoping to have MLB players hand out packs at ballparks on August 12.

This marks the first time there has been a National Baseball Card Day since 2008 when Topps and Upper Deck both produced promo sets.

I find it funny they make mention of Canada in there but no listings.. Mind you, it had nothing past NY.

All the information I can find is "tentative". I noticed the lack of states, provinces and territories. It is good to take vrooomed's advice and call if you are not on the list.

Never mind it looks like Topps has a list out on their website. I will try to get it uploaded.
