I forgot about this, but awhile back -did we agree to or disagree to allow scans of cards with the MFR seal over the card top loader in the data base? i just got a couple Redemptions in with the Topps seal over it- i was hesitant on scanning them in

I think the consensus was that they would belong in the 'packaging' section for the set.
The scan of the card should be of the card out of the holder.

But then won't that kind of diminish any value? The stickers are a kind of tamper-proof seal so cutting them or removing them to get the card out is not something I will/would/want to do.

I have one such card. It's a nice SN50 of Barry Sanders. It is missing a scan on our site. I won't be scanning mine because I have no intention of removing the seal to get the card out. I like how it looks in its holder with the seal in tact.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

@DeFoote... yes, now that you mentioned, that i think you are correct. thanks
@ray and switz... value to me is a based on a "percieved and personal" taste. to some, removing the seal will lessen the want, to others it won't matter one bit. Like Switz (nice card by the way), I like to get them with the seals when they are on and don't remove them. Putting them on the site, does in a sense kinda make it look trashy, -- doesn't give that "clean" and full total card appearance look.
the one's i just rcvd from Topps i saw a cpl on ebay last night with and without the seals, so other ppl did remove them to resell.

Does this apply to something like the 2006 Bowman Chrome Uncirculated Rookies parallel, for example? If the Topps holographic "Uncirculated" seal is broken, then it's no longer, technically, "uncirculated". I have one of these and, fortunately for me, one of the three card scans in that set showed the card with the seal. ( #91 Nate Salley). That helped me figure out what my card was. If the scan in the holder with the seal hadn't been there, I'd probably still be trying to figure it out!
Since these were sold with the idea that you would keep the card in the holder, I think they should be scanned in the holder with the seal. I have similar cards from the Topps Vault as well.

the cases are a litte different. you can still scan and not get the seal. i put a scan in like that on a 2004 Bowman Uncirc Gold #111 Eli Manning.

If I remember correctly, that "seal" is not a seal. It's the same as us using blue painters tape when we ship a card in a top loader. They just use a Topps sticker to keep it from slipping out of the top loader during shipping. And no, only scan out of the top loader.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Be that as it may, my Sanders stays in the case! Besides, it the thickest card I've ever owned so it wouldn't fit in another case or an album anyway. And this case might look like garbage if I tried to peel the sticker off.
