Hello,
I found this website a few months ago, and it has really helped me to organize my collection tremendously. I was wondering how long this website has been around. I plan to start loading in my collection, but just want to make sure I'm not wasting all that time and the site shuts down. This certainly looks like a very well run site, so just curious about what the outlook here is.
Thanks!

First, welcome to the best trading card site ANYWHERE. Admin has their own user ID and it shows joined in 2007. This site is here to stay. Look around and ask questions. The members are here to enjoy this site and willing to help each other.

Welcome to the site. While I won't go as far and say the site will be around forever, I feel very confident in the longevity of the site. I've been a member for a few years and never been worried about it shutting down abruptly. I've been a member of other sites (non sports related) that I've also have had confidence in that would eventually shut down, but the signs were there months in advance. I've never seen those signs on here, and I don't fear it especially since they just spent many hours updating the site and the servers this year.
In my opinion, I would go ahead and add all my cards on here as I don't think its going anywhere. The only way I think something happens to the site is if Beckett goes after the site like they have with others recently. Even then I think if they did, I think there would be plenty of time to get all your info off here before it shuts down. I also don't fear that happening since while one aspect of the site is pricing, to me there is so much more to the site than having prices, and if it came to that at worst the site would probably just disallow Beckett prices from being added.
I know this is a long response and may seem to be going in circles, but to close I just want to say, I think it will be safe to add your stuff to the site, and again, I hope you enjoy your time here. There is so much to explore on the site even once you collection is updated.

This site isn't going to shut down unless it's being bought by a larger site! I've been here for nearly 2 years and this is the best trading card site I've ever seen. There is so much to do here and it's fun to work on the site or find new info about cards. Even after 2 years, I STILL don't have all of my cards listed on here. I'll be working on/with this site for many years to come!

Was just wondering this after coming across a blog about Zistle demise. How safe is this site or is it something I might have to think about and use spreadsheets or other means to track my collection again.

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.

About 2 months ago i started to question the longevity of this site (to myself). My concern was the selling of this site to Beckett and all of the hard work going down the drain AND having to pay Beckett now for access to all of OUR hard work. Either way...live in the now.

Well I think we all wonder about that, I just think of it as a library, nerarly every town gets one and when they do I don't think they ever disappear they just morph. I would hope that Admin would tell us about any changes like that as if not they are pretty heartless. But that is Capitalism right?! IIWII my fine friends.

This is why I do not inventory my collection on the site. I wish the mysterious "Admin" would weigh in on this topic. I have submitted 8 years of excellent scans, but I enjoy scanning because it is something I am so good at.

Well, I've been on the site for over four years, which is nothing compared to those who have been here over a decade. It seems about as stable as one could expect. If it's sold, I'm glad our collective work will benefit others. If it closes down, well, I had a great 4+ years. Not too worried, but, that said, I have an Excel spreadsheet with my entire collection catalogued. Trust, but back up.
I'll just keep enjoying the ride for as long as it's here.
