It's hard to believe that Beckett price guides are still a thing. Price all your cards by their price lists and then try to sell them for that. It won't end well.

Makes me kind of wish there was a backup button on the site that would export your collection. Not looking forward to cataloging all 25,000+ cards again.

Not a perfect solution and I haven’t tried it, but can you print out your collection as a pdf so you have some sort of historical data back up?

Nothing lasts forever. I put a lot of time and effort into another site, not about cards, but another collecting medium. First as a regular member, then as a mod and finally as an admin. Went well for about 12 years, then traffic died down, the webmaster became a no-show for months on end, and finally one day it was gone. Seems he got tired of the hosting fees, and even though a bunch of us offered to help pay, he just ignored us. But we did see it coming, his pride would rather let the site die than allow someone else complete control of his baby. Also like to add that a major merge was planed in 2004, but again giving up just some of the control was an issue. The other site is still going strong that we were going to merge with.
I don't really feel this site will be going anywhere anytime soon When no one posts anything for days, weeks, months at a time, well then that's a bad sign. Was going to say when site staff starts to stop even visiting for long periods that's another bad sign but besides admin, I don't think there are any mods here. I know we HAD to have them or else there was no telling what we would encounter the next morning. Certain members fought, and some liked to post obscene stuff, though it wasn't my call in the end for bans, I sure did my share of locking out troublesome folks for at least a short period of time to cool off or come to their senses.

I'm with you Doc, I was a member of a music site and you could tell months in advance that time was short. I started helping the site for about a year or two prior, but wanted to venture on my own, and so did another guy. With that it was like the creators of the site just gave up. I offered to stick around and give updates on news, but the writing was on the wall. A few months after I left the site people were still asking me about stuff that I had no idea about. One day I went to the site and it was gone. It wasn't a database so people didn't really lose anything other then maybe ways of getting in touch with friends they made on there, but it was still sad to see it go. Luckily I go check the wayback machine and remember the good times I had on there. I wonder if I stuck around if it would have lasted, but I doubt it would have. I only wish the site administrator would have gave a heads up about it shutting down. If I ever came into some money I thought about buying the domain and reviving it, but doubt that ever happens.
As for this site, I forgot about this post since its a few years old, but I still feel secure about it. I also tend to believe that if something were to happen, a heads up would be given in advance. Even saying that though I think its best to backup your informations from time to time just in case.

I can see TCDB growing to become as big to trading cards as Board Game Geek is to table top gaming. Huge. They are very similar, size is the only real difference at this point.

Hmm, you have my attention, I might need to check that site out. I have this board game that I'm trying to find information about and can't find anything about.

I have joined more then 30 diff trading sites over the years. This is the only one that I have find that I can get information about cards esley You guys are great about help out with odd ball stuff. You guys bring up sets that I never know existed. That is one reason I like this site even if I do not collect most of the stuff you are talking about.
My main problem now is some errors on cards. I'm having to veriy cards now. Due to the fact I'm not sure on alot of the sets any more. I do not feel comforble in reporting errors. example football 2002 Bowman Best #166 Tracey wistrom Blue Auto The site shows it is SN399 I now have 2 of them and both are not SNed. I have seen a SN399 but do not remimber if it was a blue. I have several cards that do not match the SN to what is showed here. I do know some sets appear to have diff SNs for diff players in the same set.
Sure hope this site does not go away as it has been a big help for me.
