A sincere thanks to those that go to making the database all that it is.  Ever since the thread went out about the next cleanup project, I have been trying to pitch in, and I have, albeit very slowly.  It has given me a lot of appreciation for the time and effort that people put into making this site so awesome, and I just wanted to say thanks!  We all benefit from your efforts and I just wanted to personally thank all of you that contribute!

And thanks to you for participating in that effort!

It's moving along, actually quite well. I have continued to gather data each week (regularly!) and will post an update this weekend.

The sports sets are really moving along well. We are close to having another sport (basketball with 7) drop off the list (we already have 4 done). Unfortunately, non-sport is the category really holding us back. It started out back in October as only 38.6% of the total sets needing validation and now it's up to 59.3%. I have started looking at the numbers from a sport-only point of view as well as the overall (those stats are on another computer, hence why I'll post them over the weekend). I'm starting to struggle with the baseball because it's mostly foreign or non-sport/multi-sport mixed stuff (marketed as "baseball" sets, so they go into the baseball category). Maybe I'll haveto do like I did before, take a break from baseball and finish off a sport (I did the MMA - no idea at first, but I learned). I do have the following stats available. When we started (10/21/16 and today):

Of the 7500 or so completed, over 2100 of those were baseball. Non-sport was down as low as about 4900 (12/31/16), which means at least 700 more sets have been added without validation since the start of this year! That also means it had seen a reduction of about 1600 at one point. We have less than 4000 sports sets to go! I knew it would slow up because we'd start getting to the harder to complete sets, so this isn't a shock. But we do (as a team) need to be better at validating the checklists as we add them.

Vrooomed, you do know where most of those non-sport cards w/out validation came from don't you? ;)

I'm glad to see that Racing had the 4th highest number of validations completed during that time. Especially since there are really only 3 (maybe 5) of us working on that sport.

I'm always happy to contribute to the site whenever I have the time to put my knowledge and researching skills to the test. I love this place!

I also have stalled doing names in baseball, the only sport I follow. I have turned my attention to the missing birthdays in minor league baseball. There are, on average, about 25% of the players with NO information other than their name on the card. So I am working my way forward from 1975, hoping to link them with future teams. Sloooow work, but very satisfying.
