My greatest pull ended up being the most I had to pay for a single card. Needs a little explaining. I bought 3 new boxes of 2001 Fleer Greats at a discount and intending to sell them at a local card show. I'm at my table at the show and got bored so cracked open a box. Ended up pulling the two toughest auto's, the Mays redemption SP100 and the Murray SP140. Now I'm hooked. I figure I pulled the two toughest, the rest of the auto set should be easy after that. Fast forward a few months. I hadn't yet submitted my redemption and had picked up most of the rest of the set, including more redemptions to exchange. I sent them in all together. I get back all but the Mays, with an eventual explanation that they didn't have enough Mays autos to redeem. I went back and forth with the redemption center and got a few nice cards, including the 2002 Fleer Greats Dueling Duos Dual auto of Mattingly and Pucket #/25. But it just isn't the same. So eventually I had to cave in and buy the Mays to complete the set, somewhere around $800. Other than that, I think I paid around $425 on EBay for a 2004 Fleer Greats Etched in Time Ted William 1/1.

I always keep on a tight budget and prefer trading to get rid of duplicates. The most I ever had spent on a card was $31.50 on a Magic the Gathering Mishra's Workshop from Antiquities. Thus was in1997 when I was playing. Happily I kept my Magic cards and it has done better than any of my actual investments as it is now worth about $1,000. If only my baseball and hockey cards would do that.

Through the years I have spent an ungodly amount on packs, boxes.. But I have only bought one card. It was a tobacco card for around $20 around 15 years ago. Can't even remember who it was but it is here somewhere. I just wanted to own one from that era. And since I don't smoke, I couldn't figure how else to get one.

Late to the party, but was intrigued and had to go back through my records. Turns out the most I've spent was $600 on a 1990 Topps Frank Thomas NNOF card. Which reminds me...the scan on the site is of a reprint card. Would love to get a scan in there for the actual NNOF card.

From the card page, "Report any inaccuracies" telling Admin that the image is of a reprint and not the actual card. Good thing to add that you do have the card and can uplaod an image when the inaccurate one isremoved. They will delete it when they confirm it and then you can add your image.

In 2006 I purchased a PSA 3 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #92 for $1150, it was my great white whale and sadly due to medical bills adding up I had to sell it earlier this year.

Two different cards I paid $600 for each. The first was a Tom Seaver rookie card. I just started building the 1967 set when he was elected to the HOF. The other card was a 1935 four on one exhibit card of the Boston Braves with Shanty Hogan and some guy named Ruth. Please don't tell my wife I paid that much.

I've thought long and hard about how to respond to this thread, and today I figured it out. Hands down, without a doubt, this is the card that I have placed the largest investment in:
1995 Upper Deck Electric Gold #175
Over the past eighteen years, I have spent untold hours searching eBay, COMC, Amazon, Sportlots, Go4Cards, NAXCOM, Sportsbuy, Yahoo Auctions, and many other places for this card. I have spent hundreds of dollars over the years on boxes (and once even a case) of this product, hoping to pull this as the box hit. It is definitely the most time, effort and money I have into one card.
Oh, and in case you didn't follow the link above, no, I don't even have it yet. So the cost will continue to acrue until the day finally comes that I have it in hand.

I went to a card show last month and threw down $68 for a t206 Rube Waddell. I love his story as being baseball's crazy bad boy pitcher for a few seasons. He was one crazy dude. But, really, I just wanted to own a tobacco card, preferably a t206 because of the history. The card itself is probably would be a PSA 1.5-2, but the fact it's a HOF is a plus.
My dad did throw down about $500 last Christmas (He went far over his budget haha) on a 1965 Carlton RC PSA 8 and a 1973 Schmidt RC PSA 7. I don't know how much he payed for each.
