A couple of weeks ago, I finally caved and dropped $50 to finally land my 1993 Topps Finest Refractor Dave Winfield card. I'm contemplating perhaps a bit more for an extremely tough Hensley Meulens card, but I until the $50, I think the most I'd ever paid for a single card was $20.

I paid $125 for a ''67 Tom Seaver rookie 7-8 years ago.
I recently paid $150 for a the last card of the '66 set- Gaylord Perry.
The most I've spent was 4-5 years ago. $180 for a 1960 Carl Yastrzemski rookie. Not graded, but I'd estimate it as an 8.

I can't recall the actual price I paid, but I ended up buying the last card in the 1962 Topps set #598 SP three times over. I seem to recall the card being $80 nm at the time so I may have paid $40 or more, twice. I collect cards of the members of the 1969 Cubs and have them autographed. Both Jim Hickman and Manny Jimenez are on that card so I had 2 to get autographed. I ended up buying a signed Jimenez for $61.50 in 2007. He was always a tough autograph (ugly scribble and lived in the Dominican Rep.) Much harder now that he's deceased and I'm sure more expensive.

My Autograph Collection Website Emphasis is on the 1969 Cubs. This is still a work in progress as is my collection here at TCDB. Value what you collect, don't collect for value.

The most I paid was around $250 for a Roberto Clemente Topps rookie. It has a 1 grade, but that was the most I wanted to spend so I had to settle for the low grade.
The most I spent for a collection was $270 for Pete Rose's 27 main base cards from 1963 through 1989. Surprisingly of them all the 1963 rookie card is in the best shape. The only blemish it has is a small ink mark on the back of the card.

So far, the most I’ve ever spent on a single card is $160.00 for a Carlos Correa auto patch. It was worth it. I’m sure the figure will go up with the purchase of another card, probably older, though.

$75 for a 1962 Topps Fran Tarkenton (RC). Best purchase I ever made. It's my favorite card or my favorite player. It's in great shape with no chips or dings in the black border.

$75 for a ‘62 Musial in excellent condition. Not a bad purchase, I think.

I spent $20 on a card last month. I've spent more for a card that was a gift for someone else, but this is the first time I recall spending $20 on a card for myself. It may not happen again.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I still haven't even come close to approaching the $187 I mentioned earlier in this thread. Lately, my trend has been spending $15-40 at a time but it's usually for several cards. My latest purchase was $40 for 5 cards. Only one of the cards didn't have a serial number and the rest were SN25, SN35 or SN50. The SN50 was an AU, MEM card with a BV matching what I paid for all 5 cards.
The oldest card I bought recently was on here and I paid $14 for a 1960 Bob Gibson and a 2001 Jim Edmonds MEM card.
