I was just curious if anyone could explain why the Star cards of say, Charles Barkley or Michael Jordan are not considered true rookie cards.  Is the Star release not really considered an official release?

Actually nevermind, I used the search function in the forums and found a thread I missed from about a week ago that explained this.

Beckett invented this term to differentiate between true rookie cards (RC) issued in the major release base sets vs "rookie/first cards" issued in Traded/Update sets. Many believe to was a sales gimmick to get more people to buy/chase these cards.
