Pardon me with another thread about card storage, but I was wondering for people who use boxes, why BCW makes two different 3200 count boxes.  They make a 3200 count box with a full lid, and then a box they call a monster box with a half lid that is slightly bigger.  Neither hold toploaders and both are designed to hold roughly 3200, so I don't get the purpose. 

Anyone know which type has been around longer and why they have two types?  Is one inferior to the other? First box I got was a full lid version and now I make sure only to get that type because I like them to able to sit on a shelf evenly and be uniform.

The box with the full lid is sturdier and better for stacking. The full length lid extends all the way down the side making the side wall and corners thicker, allowing them to hold more weight. A regular lid is only half as deep as the box. I don't know which has been around longer, but I geuss the main reason for 2 types is the price difference from the extra material. I personally prefer the full lid because I have a few stacks of 5 and those commons get heavy.

I have ancient monsters (got them back in 1991). They are full-side variety. I have a couple others that are half-side They stay on top. The full side ones are stacked 6 high, in 2 columns - configured like this:

• 6 12
• 5 11
• 4 10
• 3 9
• 2 8
• 1 7

Never had a problem with them being like this, And oh yes, they get heavy. And I have 3 other boxes (Stars, Stars extras, HOF extras) on top of those 12. This is why it may take me a half hour to pull one card. :) If I was to buy another monster today, I'd go with the full-side model. What is the difference in price?

I liked the Full Lid ones as I would use a cut 9 album page attached to front of box and put a card from the year that was in box in that row.   Or I could write in large print so mt aging eyes could see it.

The price difference is only 35 cents, so I would recomend getting the full lid.
