I'm entering in my cards from the 2016-17 Prestige set, and I got to the Reminiscent insert. Each of the 15 cards has two players and two teams, and was marked as verified. NONE of the cards had been linked to their players, and one of the cards wasn't even entered correctly as it listed one of the player's names twice.
This is about the worst possible thing to do. This set being marked verified essentially told all of us who are working to make the Database correct as possible that there was no work to be done, yet there clearly was. It essentially made these cards "invisible" on both the player and team listings. I'm fully expecting the parallel of the set to need the same work and the Teamwork insert which also features two players.
It makes me wonder what else has been verified without the proper work being done.
If you can't do the work correctly, don't do it wrong. One of us will come along and fix it, but we can't fix it if we don't know it needs fixing.
Edit: The Reminscent parallel had the names of the one card correct, but not the teams. Neither were connected to the respective listings but was marked verified. If whoever did the verifying had bothered to do it correctly these mistakes would have been caught already.
Edit 2: Teamwork was done properly, Teamwork parallel was not.

I wonder if Admin has a record of who hits the "Mark as Verified" button. The set checklist was only uploaded 10 days ago. Maybe they can investigate. Maybe the person who uploaded the checklist clicked it. Maybe they didn't know better.
But yes, totally agreed, marking a set as verified when it's not is FAR worse than not bothering to do anything at all. We're looking to complete them all, but we're looking to do so by actually doing it. Just getting the set off the list is not as important as getting the names linked (to the right PIDs) and then getting the teams linked (very important for us team collectors). Since I'm on that subject, we've been making steady progress on all accounts (Name & Team Validation, and entering checklists). I see many galleries being added daily. The progress here is amazing. Hopefully, this was a one-off occurrence. (Billy, I suggest sending a PM to the checklist uploader and see if it was him.)

I suspect (hope) it was an honest mistake. Though I know the work that is being done to verify all the PIDs and TIDs, I can honestly say that I amnot 100% sure what to do about certain ones, e.g. if a set only has checklist cards or team cards remaining to verify (no PID) do we mark the set as "Verified" because when you "Verify Names", there are still some missing as far as the database goes. The samecan be said about "Verify Teams". I know I have left some unverified for this very reason.
What is described above does seem like a bigger issue but it can be discouraging to those who are unsure when errors are raised this way.

i think sometimes when a new CL is uploaded it will link a name to one that is already existing. Like if a Player A, gets uploaded, but there was already a Player A already in the system with a PID, therefore it comes up as already there with a PID. You're not really going to know if its the correct until someone actually goes and searches for it, scans a card and see's the mistake. At which point, if you correct the PID , it pops back up on the Validate list. Now, if there are 2 or 3 people in there as 'incorrect' or labeled incorrectly (like putting a "diff" abbreviation with it, QB, 1950's, etc,) it will keep popping back up as Validate each time its corrected.
it could very well be an honet mistake- and hopefully so, but if someone is just clicking the Verified without creating new PID's for those that need it, well thats a different issue.

Right on, Dan.
When something is in a checklist that doesn't get a PID, that's fine. Not everything will. All people should, though. Not every card will connect to a PID.
This is not what you are describing Tony. These were multi-player cards that were not connected to the players (or teams) and yet marked verified anyway. One of the cards had the same person listed twice. It should have been Taurean Prince / DeMarre Carroll and it was entered as DeMarre Carroll / DeMarre Caroll. The base version had the proper Atlanta Hawks / Toronto Raptors team listed (but not connected). The Parallel version had the player's names correct but both teams listed as the Atlanta Hawks. I've fixed them now.

For team validation, what do you all do when a team has been listed for a card but the team name is not linked? Some college teams, especially for baseball, do not yet have team pages. Do you verify the team name list even if all teams are not linked? I'm assuming that whenever a team page is created, the card will get linked properly.
My course has been to leave those alone for now and wait until the teams are properly linked.

k-man - that's the best thing to do - also, drop a note to Admin to see about adding a TID for the team.

on a similar but unrelated scope too --with the name PID's --- i still think Admin should add the "No Name" to the drop down menu, like it has for the teams. This would eliminate the set popping back up in the Validate list with all the red boxes.
