Hello,
I have been adding my 2016 Heritage to my collection, sorting other Heritage years. My point with the variations and SPs, color swaps, "acquired from Blue Sox" whatever, is not a new thing. It may very well be intentional by the makers now, may have been intentional in the '80s, but not treated that way. It seems that the listings are "crazy" over this stuff now, but only major errors were recognized back then. Since I have researched and collected ERRs and VARs for decades, I could take a "junk wax" set, standard 700+ cards, and list @20 ERRs/VARs not recognized here or anywhere for that matter except in ERR/VAR collectors collections. All the major makers were notorious for errant marks, blurps and blobs, missing CR or R, wrong years in stats, and so on. Why are they not listed like today's Heritage Cards? Do you have a 1987 T Barry Bonds with a black line through his name? or a 1985 T #1 DP with the #1 missing on the back? or how about the 1985 T Phillies with black banners instead of red? In all fairness, why not crankup the junkwax with some more listed variations.....I have a whole binder of them I could add!
Oh, Don't forget Art Howe's witch's hat, now there's a classic.
