CCG was the term coined for magic by wizards of the coast, which wanted people to pay for the rights to use the phrase, so some companies called theirs TCG, but their is no real difference. It is just how the company designates it in the first place, there are star wars CCGs and a TCG. Now days CCG and TCG are more generalized terms that cannot be copyrighted due to common usage, I believe. There are also LCGs, living card games which are games that are released in factory sets, where you get a specific set of cards. There are also CMG, which come both as miniatures, heroclix, and punch out cards, rocketman.
I actually have an old encyclopedia of CCGs from about 2004 so I could create a good collection of checklists, and Jeff Allender's House of checklists is a great site for information about non-sport cards, with probably well over 75%, probably closer to 90%, of US non-sport cards listed.
I also have images for over 25,000 gaming cards collected from different sources, quality varies. So I will have to check if they follow this sites guidelines. Not to mention my personal collection of probably 10-15k cards gaming and 3-4x that in non-sport.
I just picked up a collection of 25 open packs of NBA showtime, or whatever it was called. Got some good players too.
Man, I think my to-do list just got a lot longer. I will have to look into creating checklists, and scanning cards when I get irritated with making my game.
