I don't know of a way to search for this, so I have just been checking some guys. Does anyone have more than Alex Rodriguez, currently at 20,163?

Interesting read. Strange that Bonds, Lebron and Gretzky are so far behind the leaders

Bonds played a number of years of his career before companies went nuts with subsets, etc.... Same for Gretzky. But in general, hockey and basketball produce fewer cards and sets than does baseball

LeBron both missed the 1990s and has an exclusive with Upper Deck, which means he never appears in autograph sets since 2009-10 and only occasionally in inserts.
One of the things that irks me is the fact that my card collection, especially in NASCAR, does not truly represent the history of the sport. With the NBA they at least got one set from 1969-70 to current, even though far too small, NASCAR got nothing other than a couple promos until 1988- the 40th anniversary of the sanctioning body. Anybody who came before then is artificially short changed.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Interesting that the top 2 are Mariners. Small market team.

A man has to have goals — for a day, for a lifetime — and that was mine, to have people say, "There goes Ted Williams, the greatest hitter who ever lived."

With Arod, the 12 years with the Yanks certainly did not hurt his marketability. Only 7 with the M's and 3 with the Rangers. Also playing with several teams helps to increase the number of cards due to the local issues.

I was reading somewhere that Mike Trout already has over 20,000 different cards.
