Well, that explains this meme.
For those who don't know, Brad's autos in 2012 Press Pass Ignite Racing were signed by autopen.

this is what irks me about auto's. I've said it before, the auto's now a days don't mean a dam thing. it's a shame too, i remember when you busted open a pack and if you just so happen to get one, which was very rare, it was AHHHHHH moment.. now- nothing. sticker auto's are all over the place- and this is why. The on-card auto's are so much better although the actual signature (as mentioned in another post) are crappy as hell. I really looooooovveee to see the masses - collectors - nationwide take a stance and file a class action suit against these card companies for the BS like this and do away with redemptions.

In the article on Sports Collectors Daily it was postulated that Prescott requested not to sign stickers but "on card" to make it easier for the auto-pen to work.
I've got about 1000 autographs in my collection. I'm aware that some of them are probably fake...despite the fact that they are all certified autographs. I'm taking the "ignorance is bliss" approach.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. The only "good" thing about auto-penned autographs is that they might actually resemble something close to an actual name.
Autographs from my 2014 Storm Johnson cards (all on stickers, of course) are at best "St(squiggle) J(squiggle)" & at worst, look something like a heart monitor.

Yesterday, I saw the members of country band Florida Georgia Line called out for using auto pen in a Panini Americana set. Still, nothing tops Panini giving Dion Waiters a bunch of cards to sign, and he never returned them.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

In Florida Georgia Line's defense, they can't sing and probably can't write their own names.

Between trying to pass off Mitchell & Ness replicas in jersey cards and fake signatures (all in the past few months), you can't trust anything from Panini is authentic. They're ruining the hobby one rehashed graphic designed set at a time. Take me back to the mid-90s please.

Lately the online Washington Post has been a bit huffy about viewers actually being subscribers. Years ago I was a subscriber or the physical newspaper, got real tired of not actually reading the dang thing much and only ocassionally reading the online version. I was even a registered viewer of the website ages ago. I think you have to be a paying viewer now or are limited to the number of views per month. Now days I glance at headlines and if the story looks interesting I'll follow the link(s) but when these websites demand you be a paying subscriber, or they demand you turn off your ad-blocker and/or popup blocker I tend to stop visiting them. If I remember they do that sort of thing. I don't remember how many times I visit a damn site per week or day let alone per month.
