I got a blaster box of 16-17 Panini Excalubur at Target over the weekend, and two cards I got were damaged. They were both of the same insert set in different packs. The name of the insert is "Run the Gauntlet". At first I wondered maybe it was supposed to be that way. I mean, maybe it was supposed to look like the cards "ran the gauntlet". But after looking closer, they definitely seemed to be actually damaged.
I went online to Panini's website and submitted a replacement request. I had to mail them the cards, the request ticket, my reciept, and the pack. Since they came from 2 packs in the blaster, I just inluded one wrapper and the blaster barcode.
I have never opened cards that had factory damage before. Has anyone experienced this before?

Yes. Off the top of my head I know I have at least 3 in my For Sale/Trade binder. And I've given away 3 in the past year to ebay buyers.

I have gotten a few like that. problem I encounter is that it wasn't new enough that I could send in for replacement. From corner dings to what looks like perforation failure from dull blades or something. all out of pack. (the corner dings were centrally placed cards... not the outside ones)

The top right corner of both of the cards looked like they were crushed by something. They are bent in mutliple places and had started to peel apart.

I still have a photo of one. It looks like it got pinched in the machinery.

Probably more times than I actually remember. I do recall opening a pack of 2009 Donruss Classics Football. I forget the exact circumstances but I had a pack that had been bent up (I don't know if it was my fault or it came that way). All 4 or 5 cards in the pack were creased horizontally around the center. I don't recall if it was an individual pack or one that came from a retail blaster I opened.

I think if you open packs, you wind up finding something damaged eventually. My biggest complaint with Topps with this is the fact that you need to include receipts and such to get a replacement. When you've purchased from a shop (or someone else who bought from a shop for you), you're most likely not getting a receipt. I have a damaged card - isn't that good enough?

Sure, die-cut cards have a habit of getting crimped. The 97 Scoreboard by the numbers FB jumbos almost all have a dent in them from a machine.
I even have a card from 04 certified with a fly embedded in it. He was an unlucky sob.
