This morning an
entire host of new
advertising is now
being blasted at me
by the site. The
amount of
advertising for the
past coupe of years
has been
acceptable, but now
it is too much for
me to endure. I
remember when the
site had no
advertising, but as
I said the amount
introduced 2 years
ago was fine. Now
having video
commercials with
sound playing
constantly on the
Web Page and
additional new
advertising on
either side of the
Web Page, it is too
much.

I am fine with most of the ads, but the only one that bothers me are the ones with sound. Anymore because of ads with sounds (not just this site, but seemingly EVERY site) I just mute the sound until I need it for something.
I have noticed there have been more ads lately, but as long as it keeps the site running and causes no major problems with slowing the site down, I can understand it.

As the site gets bigger and more members come in, its going to continue to need more space and bandwidth. Space is usually cheap but the bandwidth is the expensive part.
With as hard as the admin(s) (is there one or more than 1?) work on the upkeep of the site as well as implenting more features, and as much as I have come to value this site since I started collecting again, I personally would be willing to pay a small monthly fee if it meant that a) the site continues to run and smoothly and b) less obtrusive advertising could be used.
I do think if something like that was implemented it should be an optional thing since I dont want to see anyone not join and be part of the site because of the fee. The more people here and contributing, the better IMO.
Anyway.. thats just a thought. If the admin wants to put up like a paypal donate button or something similar Ill be happy to make a monthly contribution as part of my collecting budget.

I could careless
about the ads on
the site but the
ones that bother me
are the videos that
have sound. The
real problem is
when you are unable
to mute the sound.
This site is
wonderful and I
understand that ads
are what help keep
this site free but
please remove the
video ads that have
sound or if video
ads are necessary,
then have them
start muted and if
someone wants to
view it they can
unmute it.

I must be the lucky one. I never get sound at this site. I have speakers turned up and everything. This is the first I've heard of it, no pun intended.

I get them periodically, it takes me a second to figure out what's even going on. That said, it's totally worth it to me if it keeps the lights on.

Full motion video
with sound
advertisements are
only on for Windows
7 and Windows 8. I
have a Windows XP
machine and it is
not bothered by
advertising on the
site.

I would like the
donate button as
well, actually. cut
back on the ads?
oh heck yes. I
hate it when I
double click on a
scan and get
redirected because
an ad picked up on
it. also the sound
ones drive me nuts
because of the fact
me and the fiance
share the
computer. I'm
canning while shes
watching movies on
xbmc. it works
until an ad blasts
her movie out of
the speakers.
maybe a no ad
account could be
set up as a perk
for people who
donate/pay a
monthly fee? it
really is a good
idea, i think.

So far I have had
no sound from the
ads on the Database
and I can listen to
Windows player or
YouTube while using
the database. Could
the difference be
the individual
Google ad settings?

I have Windows 7 and still no audio ads. I add my vote for a nominal fee if we could get rid of ALL the ads.
