1994 collector's edge 1st day cards

Can someone help me figure out why, in this set some of the first days have 6 numbers as serial numbers and some have an x. Then 5 serial numbers

Football? I just went through and did not see any with an "X". Do you have a specific example? ------------------------------- *Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.*

sorry, yes. I have Thurman Thomas's 1994 Collector's Edge 1st day cards. 1 has 6 no. 000503 the other has 5 no. and an X X22274 both cards are idectical except for the no. on the back, all the other cards that have to do with this set including the 22k gold helmet card have 6 no. as the serial no.
