I'm a bit south of Charlotte in SC, Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Lancaster. People have been going nuts the past week. Buying up water, and canned goods. Seeing quite a few displaced Floridians. My son was telling about one of his neighbors has taken in a family they know from there.
Plans are in place for folks to stay at work should things get bad on the 12th. We must run due to an agreement with a customer, extra generators have been brought in. I don't see that it's all that important myself, it's just bills and statements, a few checks. Something along the lines of police, EMTs, prisons, hospitals, rest homes, etc. matter more in my book. They don't want to stop for holidays, even Christmas day.
I was east of Charlotte in '89 when Hugo hit in Albemarle, NC. Recall power being out for a week or so, lots of wind damage. Was also there in '99 when Floyd came through, a lot of flooding. Wish I was back there, I hate SC, but that's for another time.
Be safe folks, and good luck to all affected.
