I've seen general questions about inserts that were in distributed throughout multiple releases, but I think this question is slightly different. The 2016 Panini Immaculate Collegiate Baseball set had a subset for Rookie Autographs. Cards #27 Michael Conforto and #32 Tyler White were not included in the packout; they were released with the 2017 Panini Immaculate (non-collegiate) set. However, everything about those two cards, including the fine print on the back, say they are part of the 2016 Panini Immaculate Rookie Autograph set. Should I include those two in the 2016 checklist and add "Released with 2017 Panini Immaculate Baseball" in the Note2 field? Or do these need to be added to the 2017 Panini Immaculate Baseball checklist with a "Part of 2016 Panini Immaculate Collegiate Baseall Rookie Autographs insert" in the Note2 field?

From the FAQ, specifically, this page:
What if an insert matches the design of a different release, should it be listed under the set it was inserted into or under the release it matches?
Every effort should be made to list inserts under the sets into which they were inserted, even if the design matches or is a continuation of a different release. This applies to previews (sometimes previews of one release are inserted into packs of a different release), stamped buybacks, and updates.

I'm not sure if that applies in this case Dan.
The situation described sounds more akin to a multi-product release. Those two cards aren't a separate parallel set, it sounds like they are numbered as part of the same set, just released in another product.
Press Pass used to do something like that puposely. There was a year long autograph set, but not every card was released in every product. There is not a separate listing under each product in the database. The set gets one big checklist, and each card has a note that describes which product(s) it was available in. Here's a card from '03 Signings for example:

Honest question: How is someone who has one of these two cards in hand supposed to locate it on the checklist? If I was looking at the card, every indication would be that it is part of the 2016 Panini Immaculate Collegiate - Rookie Autographs set. How would they know to look under the 2017 Panini Immaculate checklist on here? Already there are few on eBay listed under 2016. Panini didn't do us a favor and never released checklists for this set or for the 2016 Panini National Treasures Collegiate release. There are zero checklists out there. Also, for what it is worth, COMC already lists the #27 Michael Conforto under its 2016 subset: https://www.comc.com/Cards/Baseball/2016/Panini_Immaculate_Collection_Collegiate_-_Signatures/27/Michael_Conforto/12544411

I understand the situation, and I'm all for us getting the info out there that helps collectors find their items on the database quicker and easier.
I also understand that what I say, doesn't always go here -- it's ultimately up to Admin (I'm cool with that - a little). When in doubt like this, please send a message directly to them by creating a new message and addressing it to user ID "Admin". Allow them to guide you. Thanks!

My two cents ...............
Hockey does (did) this alot, tons of MEM cards, auto cards and the like all inserted as after the deadline cards, updates, etc etc in other products than what was intended. Admin has told me that regardless of the original checklists the cards are to be listed with what they were packaged in. That is what the release notes portion of the sets is for. Adding stuff like the "was orignally meant to be part of the 2016 such and such set" So I am with Dan here, but if still having concerns and let Admin know your thoughts. I too thought that they should be added to the original set but then how are people to know that all the packs of the 2016 will never get you those two "missing" cards. It is a bit of tomato tomato for sure. Again just my two cents. =)

The Walking Dead did this a couple of times.
Laurie Holden did not get her season 1 autographs returned in time for inclusion in S1 wax boxes. So they showed up in the season 2 release. As A3 and A4 so they fit in with the season 1 set, which was missing those numbers. They are listed under S2 as S1 autos, in their own insert set here.
I can certainly see that this would confuse someone just wanting to start collecting the set.

In that case, there should also be notes under the original set listing directing collectors to look for 'missing' cards under the later release.
