I was in a local Dollarama and, in a rare case, saw 80-card packs of baseball cards. I say rare because usually they only have hockey and non-sports. They were $3 per pack. Looking through the stack as much as I could, I could see that there were cards through out the years from the mid-80s to the present. Sorting through the packs available, I selected a pack that at least would give me a couple of cards I would want for my collection, being unsure of the "junk" that would also be there.
Once opened and sorted, the ratio of junk to decent cards is 3:1 or 60+ cards were from the junk era. And very few stars to be had. In the good cards, there were a few that I am happy to have. But in the end, the $3 would be better spent on 1 or 2 cards that one really wants for their collection. If the packs were $1, then I would probably go back for more.
