If a couple of my trades go through this week, this will be my only missing card from the set.  

Couple of questions:

How short a print was this card?

Was it a regular issued card in series 2?

The 661a card seems priced very high on eBay, as most of the cards are graded.  Noticed the factory set variations are quite cheaper.  Any suggestions on my best bet of locating one?

"Super rookie Bryce Harper is a short print. The card is not a variation but rather card 661 in the set. For those not wanting to shell out huge amounts for the card, Topps has already announced that a different version of the 661 Bryce Harper will be included in 2012 Topps Baseball factory sets. 2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball also has randomly inserted Bryce Harper autographs, which are simply copies of the regular short print with a sticker autograph added to the front.

It looks as though all short prints have been printed in equal or roughly equal numbers, including the Bryce Harper. However, they are also tougher to find. 2012 Topps Series 1 Baseball averaged about five short print variations per hobby case. 2012 Topps Series 2 Baseball short prints fall just two or three per case."

With my set of 2012, I decided to forgo the card and don't consider it to be part of the set, since it was released as a gimmick by Topps.

Personally, I don't think the card should be in the checklist either. It should be treated the way the Strasburg 2010 card is, but I'm more than likely in the minority with that.

But if you need the card, I would go with the factory set because it's the cheapest and it doesn't play entirely into Topps' gimmicks.

My recommendation would be that if you aren't concentrating on the other short print cards in the set, there really isn't any reason to focus on that one card just because it has a unique number on the back.

I have 1 and I had to pay $120.00 for my issue. I don't collect Bryce but having his significant Rookie cards are always a good thing. Believe it or not, I had a harder time tracking down his update Rookie U183 then I did this one. I consider the Topps Update to be his true RC card, I know I will catch some flack for that because of the price. I like to compare this to the 2000 SP Authentic Brady Rookie a true RC Playoff Contenders Rookie Year card. You could maybe find the card at a show or if it is important enough of a card (You collect Bryce Harper) email me and I could track this card down for you. I have Clients that I have to find a card every week. My health does limit me at times. I hope I can help you.

Does anyone know if 2012 Topps 661 Bryce Harper exists as ...

* Target Red Border Parallel

* Walmart Blue Border Parallel

TCDb reflects that there are no gold SN 2012, or gold sparkle, but .... blue & red are on the checklist

there are no blue / red for sale on ebay, and there are no reports of any graded blue / red
