My post from last night got caught up in the server issues and disappeared, but here's the gist of what I said (with extra stuff added now):
Yes, my scanner is a CIS. It still has CCD sensors in it though. The difference b/t the two really is just the lighting and addition of mirrors for the CCD scanners. The only problem I've had with mine is dealing with die-cut cards. From the starting scan-point, my scanner has a black line on the top and left sides of the scan area. For a normal rectangular card, this isn't an issue b/c the card covers it. With a die-cut card, the black line shows up anywhere that there isn't any cardboard. My adjustment for that is to put something else with truly flat edges in the corner of the starting scan-point and move the card away from the other edge. Cropping the scan then makes the card appear as it looks in-hand. I've used toploaders and Mini Post-It Note books as my flat edge, but it would be nice to have a half-foot ruler. That would be perfect! I only have a 1ft. ruler (which is too long) AND it is clear plastic (to complicate the cropping). Sometimes you just have to work with what you can get though. It's good that I didn't spend more on the printer/scanner b/c I ended up having to replace my laptop about a month later! Having spending cash in the bank allowed me to do it right away instead of trying to build up to a safe-point before getting a new laptop. The extra $50+ for the new scanner could have meant I was without a PC for a week.
My finances aren't THAT tight, but I like to keep a reserve for unexpected things. What if my car breaks down, what if I get sick or am in an accident? The laptop crashing so bad that I couldn't fix it was an unexpected thing and I had the money to cover it without worrying about the other What if's..., so it all worked out for me. The car waited a few more months before it unexpectedly had a malfunction with the anti-theft system that refused to allow me to crank up the engine. Totally wasn't expecting it, but again, I had the cash to cover it.
NO PWE's EVER!!! PLZ PM me 1st before sending any offer. ONLY selling cards as of March 2024. No trades or purchases right now.
